I agree that some people are blowing Roy's mistakes out of proportion on occasion but that sentance sums up half the problem on here.

I actually don't think it would be someone of Magleish or Hodgsons "standard", although I do think even if it were they would both do a better job than Benitez. Birmingham need to win their game in hand to move within two points of us in the league. They have a first team which cost a similar amount of money to Aquilani, and have been excellently managed all season. Fulham may ultimately perish at the last 16 stage of the Europa Cup (mind you so might we) but by any measure, Hodson has done a marvellous job.
I've never been one who holds the view that someone necessarily has to have an exotic sounding name in order to be successful myself in any case. It's about ability, and rather than worrying too much about all that we may as well consider only managers who would have been capable this season of bettering a record of 15 defeats. My guess is that the bar isn't exactly sky high and that many of the names which are thrown up as a p!ss take could do a comparable job with the total debacle which has been this season.
Ultimately, the current manager isn't up to the job it really is as simple as that. That doesn't mean we shouldn't get rid of the owners, or that we haven't been a bit unlucky with injuries, but none of that obscures the glaringly obvious. Any new manager may also not be up to it, but as the current one clearly isn't I am unconcerned and unworried about making the change, which we surely will at the end of the season.
My guess is that we will get a well known manager who will get everyone except those who are gutted that they weren't able to claim they were right all along excited. Ultimately, it is almost beyond comprehension that he could do worse than the travesty of football we have endured this time around.

People have been carded and banned before for posting an opinion about the managers future in threads where they weren't supposed to. I'm not advocating that course of action of course as it was as utterly ridiculous then as it would be now, but this thread as RIW pointed out is not really about the ownership of the club.
As I said earlier, you can bet your life that each time the team underperforms to an extreme level (and defeats to Wigan and Lille certainly come into that category) then stories of a horrific nature about the future of the club hit the headlines. If it's not some mad Thai who is going to buy the club, it's some Arab who likes kicking the sh!t out of people. It's always either that, or the club have been talking to Glen Roeder as a potential new candidate for the managers job as he's the only one in World Football who'll take it on.
I don't buy it. Get a top manager in and tell him he has zero money to spend, but he can keep the players he already has. We'd launch a sustained title challenge next season, new owners or no new owners.

The days of football managers being given bucketloads of cash to spend are largely over. If Rafa had spent the 20 million quid which he spunked on Aquilani a bit wiser, we might now look like a better team than we do. Any top manager would come to Liverpool, hopefully if the job does come up we get somebody really special
Dear oh dear. After six years of posting, this is the most abusive posts about the manager you could find, and this was meant to disprove the point.
THE most abusive bits in the three posts you've sourced there from me is where I describe last season as a "total debacle" (which it demonstrably was), and indicated that I didn't think the previous manager was up to the job.

. Not a fat spanish waiter in sight. I never ever abused the previous manager, and frankly having seen people get carded because they said they hoped we lost in the Europa League Cup as it was unimportant compared to the league, I am absolutely certain that any abuse of even a similar nature to the stuff the current manager has had to endure would have resulted in an instant ban.
Yes people would look now at my claim that any new manager would do better and find an argument, but once again we haven't got the "same players as we had last season", and even the ones we have still got (most notably Torres) are a long way from being the same players we had last season in many ways. But by all means criticise the opinions which were ventured, criticise the thoughts as being proven wrong, but don't by any stretch put me in the same bracket as those who are openly abusing the Liverpool manager of today, mocking him, despising him and jumping on his every move.
As I've already said, I'd change the manager as well. I'd do it simply because he isn't going to win the majority of fans back no matter what he does. That doesn't change the fact though that the way most of them have behaved has been nothing short of a disgrace. People can hide behind the pack mentality all they like, they can mock and abuse me all they like, but I don't give a feck. They have been totally out of order, and continue to be totally out of order. Best fans in the land? Do me a favour.
Stick your "Mr Insightful" n'all Igor, totally uncalled for.

I apologise whole heartedly michael i totally deserved your reaction . Your posts were not abusive in the slightest , they were however wide of the mark somewhat . The point i was making with the other posts was that rafa from just two threads got more than enough abuse from posters and people now posting pictures of owls is hardly a comparison . I happen to come across your posts whilst looking for the abusive ones so i decided to post them . It was a cheap shot and for that i'm sorry .
