he had the choice of going to us or spurs. who would you pick in the current circumstances? it's hardly rocket science.
Lest we forget Roy also said he doesn't 'fit into our system'. He is great for teams who like to press, would have slotted right in last season.
Anyway what was the point in getting Meireles if we are gonna play him out wide? We should have kept Aqua man and got in new striker.
spot on and why get poulsen when ugot lucas. thats like replacing heskey with james fecking beattie . Roy should of kept mash and aqua he got joe cole free. all he had to do was get a fecking striker. the midfield now is a fecking joke so i have no sympathy for roy when everyone else on the planet could see we needed cover upfront.
Mascherano leaving had little or nothing to do with Roy, to say otherwise is a pipedream.
It was long flagged that Javier wanted to go for family reasons, nothing was going to make him stay.
so how long has fabregas wanted a move. How long before ronaldo was allowed to move? You talk bollox.
Facts, mate, I speak the truth.
Mascherano's missus had problems living in England, he openly spoke about it years back.
He had a gentleman's agreement with Rafa and the club last summer that he would stay on for one more season on the condition that a club would come in and meet Liverpool's valuation of him.
This summer Barca sniffed around and they played silly buggers for a while knowing that Mach wanted to go and tried to get Liverpool to drop their asking price. That is why the matter dragged on so long. In the end both sides met half way as Masch forced the issue by refusing to play.
How do I know that? Because Masch and Roy told everyone who'd listen what was happening.
As for Ronaldo, a similar thing happened. Mash wanted to leave last summer, summer 2009, but the club held him to his contract, but they accepted they couldnt keep an unhappy player and agreed that they'd let him go this year provided the right offer came in. More or less the same thing happened with Ronaldo.
The only reason Cesc didnt leave was because Barca are broke. They couldnt pay their players last May and then went out and borrowed 100million to buy Villa and Masch. They thought they could squeeze Arsenal to get Cesc but Arsenal are loaded and can afford a contract/transfer stand off with him, a luxury we cannot afford (Mickey Owen? Steve McMannaman?) My money's on Cesc getting his wish and joing Barca next summer.
You suggested Roy should have held onto Masch as if he was playing Football Manager or something.
Anyone that is married and has family will tell you that when the missus aint happy, thats the end of it.
