4th may be better for your televisual feast of Liverpool playing Tirimasu in the champions league and an occassional Chelsea semi and the odd game against an Italian or Spanish team but I enjoy going to the games and all that it is packaged with. So when cup finals come around it's a big deal for me...not just popcorn, hot dog and a can of Skol in front off the google-box....

  :D

CL = more money = better players.

Beating West Ham on penalties to win the FA cup = good afternoon in front of the t.v drinking skol!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hold on a minute you said getting into 4th was vital so now it's a title challenge - we got closer under rafa than we ever did in 20 years and he is a failure ? You dismiss the cl as just another cup and you want hodgson to be given longer even if we are mid table ?

sorry man, i dont think any club is too big for any competition. be it a local or european cup competition, i want us to go for it. besides, if we fail to hit our league target, we at least have some kind of silverware to fall on.

I don't think a discussion about trying to get fourth this season is appropriate at the moment. I'm also not sure that any of the current squad besides Reina, Kelly, Carragher and Ngog are worthy of being LFC players and I include Torres and Gerrard in that. I also think Clemence and Gillespie are wrong about Hodgson Hodgon isn't an excellent manager he's quite average in all honesty. Put it this way if we've still only won one game after the games against Everton, Blackburn, Wigan and Stoke he must go end of.

Roy got a squad that should be able to challenge for 4th at least and that was before he started buying players this summer. Hardly a pile of :censored:, and if you compare it to what we had before Rafa there was a big improvement.

It's funny how the Roypologists are starting to blame the owners only now... when last season the buck stops with Rafa Benitez

Tony Evans, Football Editor
October 3 2010 11:18PM

Bill Shankly died 30 years ago this week. The edifice he built at Anfield has been slowly dying for more than three years.

Yesterday, it was clear how critical this club’s condition has become. Liverpool, already dumped out of the Carling Cup by Northampton Town , are now in the relegation zone. Defeat by Blackpool was no shock to anyone who has studied the decline of England’s most successful club.

None of Anfield’s endemic problems can be laid at Roy Hodgson’s door but he has not helped matters. Hodgson is just not up to the job. He does not understand what it means to be a Liverpool manager. That shows in his refusal to take his bosom-buddy Mr. Ferguson to task when the Scot accused Fernando Torres of cheating; it shows in his constant talking-up of ordinary opposition and talking down of expectations; it shows in tactics that waste the talents of Torres and Steven Gerrard.

Kenny Dalglish knew Hodgson was not the man to revive Liverpool. The second-greatest figure in the club’s history said as much when he offered to become manager despite Hodgson’s candidacy.

The Kop know it, too. They chanted “Dalglish” in the wake of defeat yesterday. They know this game. Unlike the men in the boardroom. Christian Purslow, an equity dealer turned club executive, talked up the acquisition of Hodgson as the deal of a lifetime. His opinion was endorsed by Martin Broughton, the chairman, who also fulfils the same role for British Airways. Neither man has even two years’ experience in football. Neither can expect a protracted career in this sport.

After the international break loom Everton in a defining derby. In the meantime, the financial future of the club will be decided by Royal Bank of Scotland, which is owed £285 million by Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr.

The carpetbagging Americans owners need to be run out of the club. Their City-gent appointments will follow in quick order. And Hodgson? He shows no sign of being able to handle life at Anfield.

It is time to call on Dalglish, the only man who can salvage Shankly’s legacy.

I think people are forgetting how poor Kenny was as a manager.. all those years and years ago when he last managed

Its like we cant say anything bad about him as he was/is a legan, but as manager he was really really bad sorry to say
