No Nan, they won't sack him because it'll cost them money.

He's English, what did you expect?

If Rafa had given some of Hodgson's post match press conferences the media would have accused him of "cracking up". It's xenophiobia at it's best, cue the clueless bellends in the media now who are still blaming Rafa now for the current teams failings (which still includes several top quality internationals by the way).

There's definitely truth in what you're saying there mate.  'Xenophobia' is putting it diplomatically.  The British media are bad for it.

I'll give you another example. Henry Winter who writes for the Daily Telegraph.

On Tony Pulis returning at half time recently on the same day his father died to help lead Stoke to a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa he called him "an inspiration" to be able to go back to his job under his personal circumstances.

On Rafa Benitez staying out with Liverpool to prepare his side for the World Club Championship in 2006 despite his father's death during the competition he called him "cold hearted".

I think that just about sums it up.

I think he did something.......we won trophies..we returned to the top of europes rankings we re-established ourselves on the world stage.....we became an attractive club for the top stars to ply their trade....

unfortunately some dimwits prefer to gauge success on the league only and then persecute a manager for a poor 7th position without taking any other extenuating circumstances into consideration after the previous season finishing 2nd with a record points haul.....it appears those same persecutors will be happy to support any failing the next manager will over-see and put it all down to Rafa Benitez....I feel that the players we have at our disposal are better than the position we find ourselves in because they are not utilised in their best positions...Gerrard is not playing in his best position but his personal preffered position...Meireles plays his best football at centre mid...Poulsen is a huge Hodgson mistake but will get his game because he fits the Fulham remit....

I do believe Hodgson was the only manager available or willing to take the LFC job in our present predicament.

Only 2 trophies count for big clubs. CL and the league. Benitez did well in the CL (basically a cup) but couldn't manage the league. Our record over 6 years was terrible and that is after spending a fortune.

Yet, Roy gets 7 games to fix the mess?

No manager can fix the mess he was dumped with in 7 games. He needs to build HIS squad.

How can any manager turn around the mess that he was left with, with little spending money, in just 7 league games?

There is nothing left to play for this season (we won't go down!) so it is all about Roy finding out what system works best with these players and what players he needs to get rid of.

Why not give him 2 full seasons before calling for his head?

Go on Roy :buttrock

Because we'll be in the Championship by then.

Hicks and Woy stay, we'll finish lower mid table this season, lose Torres and Gerard in the summer with no replacements as Hicks struggles to come up with more money, and get relegated the next year.

No one said five years ago that the banks could go under, yet look what happened. All bets are off.

Such disrespect to the LFC manager is a disgrace. Give the man the respect any man deserves and call him by his name.

Liverpool FC's Roy Hodgson already facing Anfield revolt
by Richard Buxton. Published Mon 04 Oct 2010 10:46, Last updated: 2010-10-04

The unmistakable air of Bolshevism that swept through the Kop said it all.

An October revolution is already brewing after Liverpool's worst start to a domestic campaign in 57 years. Understandably, the fact that the club were relegated from the top flight in that ill-fated 1953/54 campaign after finishing rock bottom is a ominous concern.

The widespread boos and chants of 'Dalglish' that rang around the stadium at full time, sandwiched between protests against owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks, indicated that the Anfield faithful have already grown disenchanted with Roy Hodgson and his methods.

His reluctance to leap to the defence of players when they came under heavy fire in recent weeks from both Steve Bruce and Sir Alex Ferguson - an uncharacteristic trait from which most Liverpool managers have shied away - has seen his stock dwindle amongst Kopites.

And whilst Hodgson insists he is not one for turning, despite criticism of his long-standing approach to management, the current predicament dictates that he will have to change something after his tactics on home soil sent that stock plummeting at an alarming rate.

Chants of 'attack, attack, attack' in the first half were more a desperate plea than a traditional rallying cry as Blackpool dictated the pace of the game with fluid, attacking football that made them look like the home side rather than the underdogs.

Visiting teams no longer fear playing at Anfield and Hodgson, to what little credit he deserves, has taken the rap for this latest humilation rather than his players, who resembled a squad of complete strangers prior to the interval, but all are culpable.

Glen Johnson's worst performance in a Liverpool shirt to date continued to fuel the debate that he is better suited to the right-hand side of midfield rather than as a full-back.

Attacking-wise he is truly menacing and a great option to have, but his trip on Luke Varney which led to Charlie Adam opening the scoring highlighted just why the England international continues to be a liability in the Reds' back line.

This was painfully evident, once again, when he was exposed once again when Gary Taylor-Fletcher threaded a ball through the heart of the defence for Varney to double the advantage.

Although Johnson's defensive abilities continue to remain a quandary, his team mates have also not been without fault.

The lack of service provided in attack to Fernando Torres in the opening stages and later David Ngog also did little to help matters.

Despite arriving at Liverpool following three-and-a-half years of mismanagement by its now reviled American owners, Hodgson cannot hide behind the excuse that the ongoing turmoil at the club is the root cause for his inability to revive fortunes on the pitch should problems persist.

Nor can he hide behind the fact that he inherited, save for a handful of his own signings, a largely attack-minded squad from Rafael Benitez because it is the opposite of his own tactical blueprint.

Liverpool have retained the services of the majority of the squad that was capable of vying for the Barclays Premier League title two seasons ago in addition to strengthening their ranks in the summer with the likes of Joe Cole and Raul Meireles all heading to the red half of Merseyside.

As with previous managers, he should and will be given the opportunity to turn things around rather than be sacked in a Newcastle-esque manner at the first sign of supporter unrest.

However, he will have an unenviable task on his hands if he is to reverse the damage of the previous two months; something will struggle to fulfil if Liverpool continue to languish in the doldrums of the league table as the season wears on.

he took over when he was left in the sh!t. We're already hearing others saying they were offered the job. No one would take this job at the moment, and we NEEDED a new manager.

According to many people the squad we had last season was easily good enough to get into the top 4 and it was the manager to blame for us not getting into top 4 - has it changed now and the squad actually was sh.it and the fact we are in the bottom three was because of the squad he was left with ? Just read the prediction thread early in the season when people were actually saying they think we will win the prem and easily get into the top 4 all because of the manager change

Rijkard, Pellegrini, Dalglish, Hiddink, Deschamps where all in line for the job but for some reason purslow got the man of the momment in just because he won the LMA award and because the media liked him, the flavour of the month never succeeds in a new job.

They where all told in their interviews they prefered an english manager.
