That is a top 6 squad, no more, no less. Rafa underachieved last season, and was sacked; Roy is responsible for results now.

I'd agree with that.

PT generally prides himself on a balaced view point as well.

Manager opinions aside you do have to keep turning over in your head why these lads are not performing. Whether your Rafa or Roy you pin the teamsheet up and look at the opponent and most weeks must think we will be alright today but then none of theses boys show up and we are left with more questions than answers. When you strip it all the politics and arguments away its just a game of football but when you look at the decline and endless efforts to stop the rot you have to wonder what these boys and staff know that we dont. I mean, in this of all weeks, a massive one for the future of the club and they put that in today at Anfield and all that on the back of the Northampton debacle. Maybe they know whats coming off the park, you have to consider it surely rather than blaming managers, tactics, individual performance all the time.

I dont give a sh'it what they know.
They havent got he right to put in a performance like todays and use anything off the pitch as an excuse.

Cant pass the ball to each other, run into space, put crosses in from the by-line, or defend against lesser teams. They look like strangers who have just met before the game and who arent ar'sed about the result.

I have been to many games in my 30 odd  years  as a match goer  ,and I have never witnessed such complete  distrust in the Kop than there is now ....Anfield stank of fear and hopelessness ...there is simply no glossing over this one Roy or Woy or Royston     :buttrock or whatever you opt to call him is so out of his depth its bordering on lunacy to mention him and the term Competent in the same sentence ....
Last Season we tried to tell anyone that would listen that things would become decidedly worse if Benitez left the club ,but we were reliably informed in no uncertain terms that a new manager would give the team the injection they needed .... conveniently pushing to one side the problems that ran deep within the club  and passing off our concerns as simply paranoia
So how the fuck can any person being of sound mind advocate gifting Hodgson more time are you not watching the same lifeless ,listless ,lethargic ,cowardly ,stagnant football that the manager seems to be content with .... and then listen to the man have the audacity to tell us he couldn't care a jot if we are fucking 16th or 18th how can any Liverpool fan hearing or reading them statements not feel his stomach physically churning with complete disgust ..... never before has Dalglish's and Rafa's names been so audible and I pray its still resonating in Hodgsons head ...cruel maybe... but  whilst the players return to their pampered lavish lifestyles maybe Hodgson will take stock of the boos and taunts and realise he's doing more harm than good sticking around.....
Absolute disgrace what I witnessed Today ...my Lad had fucking tears in his eyes such was his desperation
he like so many others believed this game would turn our season around ....its not a pretty sight watching that sickening  look of realization break across a Kids face ....

You know Thommo when the day finally arrives and new ownership takes over I have no problem with starting from scratch, keep players on merit not reputation and for me that means if players like Torres are constantly injured and moping around on the pitch like a spoiled brat then c'ya £40m and he can f*ck off back to Spain and open up another hairdressers. Commitment, hunger and desire is something I want to see in a red shirt again, not hands on hips, moaning - and absolutely no more coaches burying their heads in hands!

If we lose the next two games to Everton away and Blackburn home he must walk or the board must act. I think we're as bad as Spurs were under Ramos a couple of years ago and there's no such thing as too good to go down. He's fast approaching the last chance saloon.

Ok

Let's say that Hodgson did go... who takes his place?

To be calling for his head is harsh after 7 games but we seem clueless and inept at times. It would be more encouraging if we were getting some good signs from the performance - even if we were not getting the results.

At the moment we are not getting the performance or the results.

On paper we should have enough quality to beat Blackpool but the reality is sadly different.

It is all very depressing at the moment, plenty of indicators of our current plight.

It could be a completely different place we are in after the next 7 games...

Has anyone got any positive spin on the current situation?

I'm fine with the argument that it's early, we had a tough set of opening fixtures and still have lots of time to make up ground and finish in a reasonable position. But, and this is what really troubles most of us, when you see a pattern of over 10 performances where we've sat back, conceded ground and possession to the opposition, inviting and trying to absorbing their pressure while creating next to feck all in attack, the prior fact that it's early, we had tough opening fixtures and that there's plenty of time to put it right feels a little hollow. You don't believe that the pattern of performances that you've witnessed 10 times over is going to change significantly for the better. With that in mind, can anyone think of any precedent where our performances have been so consistently hopeless to begin with but where we have gone on to finish in a reasonable position in the league?

Well In answer to your question I can recall the 81/82 season where we were not at our best in the first half of the season. We lost to City on boxing day and were 12th or something like that.
Come the end of the season we were top.

Ancient history now I am afraid

Way back when. In our pomp we sat 13th on Boxing Day and that afternoon lost 3-1 at home to Man City and it looked like where in decline but we went on to lift the title. Not likely this time around mind!  :no

After losing to Utd I was still reasonably optimistic given that the 2 games we had lost were against 2 teams who had top 4 aspirations. They were away games after all and we had been unlucky not to beat Arsenal.
Since then it has all neen negativity I am afraid.
I am struggling to recall any convincing spells in any 1 game for more than 15 minutes - let alone an entire game.

You've given away your answer there haven't you mate.  :D

I have mate, I cant see it getting better, and I did think Hodgson would do a good job, or at least I thought he would adapt his style for a bigger team, but apparently he thinks we should play like Fulham and everytime I watch this current side I die a little inside  :sniffle

Hit the nail on the head for how i'm feeling right now too. Couldn't have put better myself.
