ROY HODGSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby shabelle50 » Sun Oct 03, 2010 5:59 pm

The bottom line at the end of the day is that Hodgson chose to sign Cole, Meireles, Poulsen and Konchesky. He could have ditched the Wilson and Jovanovic if he'd wanted to. This season is down to him and him only. Rafa wouldn't have ditched Aqua this year either. I doubt a relegation fight is on the cards but in terms of Hodgson's future once these things snowball they tend to generate their own momentum. One has to wonder whether the players believe in his tactics and if they don't he's a gonna.

Now it looks like we could end up with posibly just 1 point from the 15. Disgraceful. You can see evidince of p*ss poor tactics all over the pitch in every single game we play in. He needs to go. He's just not good enough to steady this ship.

Whilst Roy takes a lot of the blame, the players have to take a huge :censored: slice of it too.

:censored: me the players cannot even string a series of passess together, no manager can do anything about that from the bench.

These are professional footballers on massive :censored: wages living the :censored: life we would all love.

No movement, no creativity, no passion. They should be :censored: ashamed of themselves at the moment.

Yeah i agree Roy isnt helping with his negative tactics but jesus, even if we were setting the world alight with attacking play our defenders are pathetically out of sorts.

The midfield dont know what each other is doing and the forward line is non existent.

Sacking Roy ( he dont deserve it just yet ) will not be a magic fix, i have no idea what is.

Come January the clearout will be immense. Not sure how we can recover from this.

It's a very sad day

Tactics are one thing but if players dont take responsibility it doesn matter what you tell them to do.
You only have to look at a video of our prem games so far to see what the basic problem is. No passion, no heart, no balls. If the players cant roll their sleeves up and come out swinging now they all need Fu*king

It's the way he's set the team up. You have players like Meireles, an out and out CM, being played wide out right with two other out and out CM's beside him with no wide player on the left because Cole has an tendency to come central. There's no width when it's a players natural inclination to drift into the middle because that's the position they spent most of their career playing in. Look at Blackpool's penalty and how it came about. Meireles drifted in and left a massive gap for Johnson to be exposed with. There wasn't cover for 40 yards at least and Glen freaked out 1v1. This was happening on a regular basis each time we went on the attack. You also have our holding mids almost sitting on top of the two centre halfs, and to compound that, we've a CB playing at left back. So that's three out and out CB's and three out and out CM's all playing in a 4-4-2 formation at home playing counter-attack football against Blackpool? That's nothing short of madness and it all stops with the manager. The players look f*cking absolutely lost out there, and who could blame them.

top 4 is gone, the mickey mouse euro thing is worthless as are the two domestic cups (already out of one anyway).

the rest of this season is about Roy sorting out which players to get rid of. Many chumps and ponces in this squad and he was left this krap by the last manager.

Judge Roy at the end of NEXT season.

Roy has just walked into too much than he, or any other manager, could handle

Thought you were going for a drink. Don't be so obsess with Rafa and explain for Roy's failure. Just move on and what should we do now?

Now?

Now we dont go to the Everton game. No one goes, not a single fan. Then the same for the next game. And the next.

(ok, need drink)

and im not obsessed, i just cant believe how short peoples memories are when it comes to how many mistakes previousm anagers have made when having a go at our present one

What passed is passed. Can't do anything about rafa now. I'm just as frustrated as you are. I' m a hockey fan also that my favorite team is the Toronto maple leafs. They had been :censored: and missed the playoff for 5 years mow. The difference in the urgency is that there is no relegation in the NHL and they don't have any format like the equivalent of European football to rely on those income. Here, once relegated, it will take many years to get back to the top league. And we play less game in a season. So, we need to act fast and remedy the situation as change is needed right now. Roy always get us start playing on the defensive from the start and I for once not surprised with our first half performance today. Once you start going defensive, it will be hard to turn it back on. This is where roy' poor decision comes in place and have nothing to do with what rafa had done.

It's interesting that those who were extremely pro-Rafa used to vent a lot more at the players themselves instead of the man responsible for purchasing players, training and selecting the team. That anger is no longer apparent in their posts ("fecking Gerrard" etc..) and is instead focussed on the man who picks the team, trains the players etc.. Similarly, those who were very much more critical of the previous manager used to take the opposite stance to the one they presently take. Interesting insight into people's biases.

But like many and with good "footballing reason" (seriously) I fully expected a big reaction today - a good 3-0 win with Torres getting on the scoresheet. It's Blackpool, we're at home, we have MUCH better players, we NEED the fecking reuslt etc... A draw would have been a disastrous result for us but a defeat is a total fecking joke. Seeing us taken apart by plumbers felt bad but it was a second string side we had out and only the Carling cup; the league is where it's at and Blackpools have to be givens. All of my recent posts were premised on us beating Blackpool so for sure you do begin to contemplate the previously unthinkable. Our fight to stay in the race to stay in the race as it were hangs by a thread and just how bad does it have to become before you actually do decide to pull the trigger? Everton away next (and presumably no Torres?)and the way the two teams compare you could quite easily see it being 4-0 to them. What then? Does a draw even help much? What a state we're in.

gotta agree with that...

Doesnt do himself many favors Roy does he... His tactics (regardless of what he says) need revision and some of our so called big players need dropping ...

Sacking him now wouldnt be the way forward imo .. A couple of bad results though in the next few games and I can see the board seriously considering the option though..
Bad times indeed !

End of next season ?! You having a laugh - judging him right here right now - it's his tactics , his set up , playing the players he brought in . Played 7 won 1 drawn 3 lost 3 gs 7 ga 11 gd minus 4 points 6 - nowhere near good enough - manager is not good enough- his track record showed he wasn't good enough and his set up and tactics are showing he isn't good enough . Unless he changes he won't last until end of next season .

Aye, coming from me! Are you f*cking blind or what? Don't even sit there and talk bollox and even try to defend the sh*te we've all been watching this season. Last year was bad enough, but this tops it all by some way. At least last year we were controlling games. We've yet to control 20 minutes of a match nevermind 45 this season. How many more games does it take for people like yourself to realise Roy is not good enough? See the thing is, I came out instantly even before he was appointed and made my opinion on the matter clear and have not deviated from it. So far, proof has been in the pudding - he's not good enough.

mascherano aquilani gerrard joe cole kuyt torres. No u tell me that lineup is worse than the current one. Joe cole was free so all roy had to do was a backup striker.
