ROY HODGSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby akumaface » Tue Sep 21, 2010 10:20 am

If Roy is not aiming at least 4th place, we are doomed. If we don't get champions Football next season, we will have those stupid "Stars leaving LFC" discussion again. Our team is not that bad as long as Roy play the best 11. If he is blaming new players need time and the ownership fiasco, then he is just trying to find excuses for his failure if we don't finish at least in the top 4. He should challenge the players instead of playing victim. He knows the situation when he took the job and don't blame others as the motivation and tactics are the responsibility of the manager.

i have to say iv been very underwelmed by roy thus far...... there was no doubt a change was needed imo,,,, but,, some of his team selections have been baffling...merelies in behind torres, then moved to right mid,, maxi playing against the mancs after 2 awful performences??skertal playing ahead of agger??? cole moved to the wing?? even tho he was one of our better players for sure....babel still not getting a sniff after kyuts injury??? no pace on the flanks,,,torres totally isolated up top,,, its a pity martin o neill resigned to late imo,,, agger on sky there complaining that hes being told to unload upfield as quickly as possible??? not very encouraging stuff,,, i maintain we do have a decent squad and should be challenging for 4th place,,, after watching what i regard as the worst and negative performence iv seen against birmingham, im only hoping roy can grow a set and start setting us up to try and win games, rather than set up not to get beat!!! we are Liverpool FC,,, he needs to remember that......

Just the same as yesterday Benny...

"The manager's philosophy is that we play football in attack, but not at the back. That's not my style," he told Sporten.dk

“I'm not that type of player. I like to keep the ball on the ground, and that's what I'll keep doing. Time will show if he [Hodgson] doesn't want to play me because of that".

"I'll try to change myself, but I will never be a player who offloads the ball at every opportunity."

"I'll fight for my chance. I know what I stand for, and I think he [Hodgson] does too".

Ah right and let me guess Sky are playing it out that Hodgson is asking the defenders to hoof the ball forward as quick as possible ?

Sounds like hes trying to sweet talk his way back into the side...?

The squad we have should be at least pushing for fourth. I don't accept that we should completely drop our standards based on one miserable season.

Yes, Masch and Alonso are gone, and in their place is either Lucas or Poulsen, and Meireles. We've replaced world class players with two almost identicates, but at least one gets the foot in, whereas the other looks like a complete pudding nearing the end of his career. Our midfield is terrible at the moment, and as a result Torres and the wide men are struggling due to it.

As for dropping out standards, well, you drop those as soon as you jing a European trophy winning manager with one who's won nothing but being verbally sucked off in the press once in a while. You sack a manager trying to bring the club forward for one that is merely just happy to be there and to "steady the ship".

Sky aren't saying anything. Agger is the one that's saying it. If Agger is fit, you play him. Simple as that. We need players that can get a foot on the ball and play it from the back.

If Agger is behind Skrtle in the pecking order because he is better on the ball and don't hoof the ball up, then I'm afraid Roy is making a HUGE mistake. His philosophy is what I'm afraid it would be, old fashioned and out dated. We all know that last season Carra and Skrtle pairing was very shaky.

I'm afraid Skrtle is actually not good enough for us, I had that believe when he joined us but my perception of him changed when he was quite decent in his no-nonsense approach in his first season. But since last season, I haven't been impressed with him. Carra needs Agger. He doesn't have confidence in Skrtle and as a result his game suffers as well.

Hate to say it, but after Agger's comments yesterday, if this was last season, the manager would of been accused of losing the dressing room already.

Why should a post be deleted when it's truth?
