I was a bit disappointed with the appointment of Roy back in july, but unfortunately, its actually being worse so far than i ever imagined.  All the things people were saying about Roy are turning out to be very true.  We're playing even more negative than i have ever seen us before.  Sitting deep, Constantly hoofing the ball long, hell we even threw the Greek up front. We seem to have a Fulham kind of mentality.  All of sudden we're chuffed to have nicked a point at Birmingham, delighted to scrape a win against West Brom, not too upset that we lost to the Mancs.

The biggest worry is looking at Roy during the game.  He just sits there holding his head in his hands.

We've now played 6 matches against English opposition and we have 1 win, 2 draws, and 3 loses.  The only time i have been encouraged at all is the 2nd half performance against Arsenal and United.

Its September and we realistically only have 2 trophies to play for.  im also sick of hearing our fans saying "its only the carling cup", "its only the europa league".  Torres has never won a trophy at club level and im certain he'd be delighted to pick up some of them trophies and possibly even stay if we do.

I really hope Roy can turn it around quickly.  He is gonna need to.  I thought our next 5 matches were very winnable but after last night... im not so confident.

I will agree with you. Up to a point.
He should be talking tough and getting his players fired up. Who knows what was said behind closed doors? But whatever it was it shouldnt be said again if that was the result.

What'd doing my head in is it's impossible to come onto the forum and talk about football in any sense whatsoever without people wanting to advertise the fact that they don't want Roy as the manager.

If we're not criticising him for not leaping around in the technical area (as we're used to apparently), it's because he walks out of the tunnel with Ferguson, or because he doesn't come out in an interview beforehand and dismiss opponents as being sh!t.

Look if he's said beforehand that we were extremely confident of beating Northampton you'd now be accusing him of unerestimating the opposition.

We know you didn't want him, we know you don't want him. Fecks sake we know. Any chance we can just accept that fact and actually discuss him without bias, perhaps even discuss football for once?

The irony is, if people dont have confidence and continually criticise and even boo (cheeky tw@ts) then this will inevitably undermine any positive progress. This will lead to an even worse decline and then we really will be up sh'it creek sans paddle.

Daniel Agger: Been making noises in the press all week in a very un-Liverpool way, and has let himself down in doing so IMHO. He is though a top player isn't he, some of us were "fecking fuming" when he didn't make the first team (why we were more fecking fuming now than we were on the umerous occasions in the past that he didn't play I'm not sure), but where was he last night? Why didn't he stand out like b0ll0cks on a cow? I've wanted him in the first team as well, why didn't he make a rock solid case last night.

He was absolute poo. I dunno if you saw the game but he went ball watching 12yrds out for there equalizer, their lad got in for the biggest present of his life. A centre half who plays the ball on the deck is great and all but personally Id rather have one that hoofs it all day but doesnt show the levels of concentraton Id expect from a goldfish wth a head injury

Pre and post match interviews are all part of our game now, walking hand in hand with ark p!ssy kecks is not acceptable at Liverpool he called Torres fit to burn after the match what did Roy say? "Im not getting involved"

When our own manager cannot even stick up for his player one of the best in the world then you have to have your doubts about what is going on.

So far he's praised Birmingham "Ill accept a point".
The mancs "They are an amazing team".
Man City "I hope they dont put six past us".
Northampton "They are a foremidable challenge"
They are all in work this morning, painters, plummers, mechanics etc etc they are not pro footballers. You would think we where playing Barca by going by that statement.

How about saying good things about Liverpool for once?
How about praising his own team for once?
Are we not important? He just wants to be everyones friend, Im sorry Mick but LFC have a lot of enemys, we need a manager with fire in his belly someone to scare the opposition because quite frankly no one fears us anymore and when you have a manager bigging up other teams the way he does we dont stand a chance.

Sunderland will fancy their chances, so will Blackpool and the bitters. Does this look like a man who is not under pressure already?

Image

5 league games in the Liverpool job is massive, its huge, and I dont believe he can turn it around, the jobs a killer we seen Rafa ill and age ten years, and Ged nearly died on the touchline the job is not for the meak and weak. At 63 years of age is it really worth the hassle, because if we dont beat Sunderland and Blackpool his head is going to be on the chopping block, and that wont be my fault that will be his own for taking the job in the first place.

He thought great Im Liverpools manager and thats it, he shows no passion, he writes nothing down, he just sits there doing nothing but puts his head in his hands, or in his pockets.

Its a good job he is still in his honeymoon period god help us when its over.

We are used to pressing teams all over the pitch and having control of most of the possession, and pepper the goal ok  the draws where frustrating and getting beat was even worse, but since Roy came we cant keep possession, we dont press teams all over the pitch, and theres hardly any shots on goal.
What we are witnessing is Fulham and its fuckin attrocious!!!!
He has won nothing of note in 30 years of management and going by what we have seen already that is not about to change.

You think he can turn things around, I dont its about opinions everyone has there own without people jumping on their backs because they dont think the manager is the right one.

I genuinly fear for us this season and I mean that.

He also talked up Trabzonspor and said it was the toughest tie we could of asked for.  but them comments are insane.  I can't understand why he talks up all our opponents.  Even after West Brom he said something like "These are very difficult games and if they keep playing like that, they'll take points off a lot of teams".

i wish he'd put more focus on how good we are.  maybe the players would have some more confidence.

Previous managers have made a lot of enemies and thats the way it should be.  That means teams are worried about Liverpool.

Agreed. no biggy here, but how about ignoring it?

its fairly easy to ignore posters regular expressions of their opinions without effect on your own thoughts. Unless of course they are also repeats..

note: I say this as someone who rarely expresses his own thoughts, but reads daily

We all like a moan now and again but honestly this is getting too much. Comparing us with Fulham may seem clever but its not. If the manager is telling the players to play in a way which is making them look sh'ite and they accept it then more fool them. I would advise Gerrrard and Torres to watch videos of the season before last to remind them how they used to play.

Oh
My
God
Show me the link where the previous manager said publicly before a match:
"These are sh'ite and we will squash them"
Or "These are inferior to us in every way and I fully expect a cricket score"

I wish people would stop harping on about last season, because them words are going to come back and bite you in the @rse.

If you thought that was bad this one has the possibilty of being the worst ever.

Stop going on about it, Roys the manager now lets talk about here and now and yes we are playing like Fulham with Roys dinosaur tactics, thats all he knows he has no clue about the modern game according to some at Melwood.

I think the real problem is that we have been left if a club that was under the control of one man that got it very wrong.

the mistakes of his control go from the first team down to the youth set up.
that man has now gone and only true size of what happened has now come to light, we have a whole club from top to bottom that only has 5 good players in it......on a good day.

So what about Roy, well once he saw all the players he had i bet this come to his mind "is it too late to say no". he knew he was not going to have loads of money to spend to put it right so he had to work with what he had.
sad to say that even if you polish sh1t its still sh1t.

look at what the club are asking him to do, win things with a team that has almost nothing in most areas if one or two players are out.

I dont like to go on about us spending money on new players as i like to think its better that we grow them ourselfs but over the last few years we have just been buying young kids from overseas that are never going to make into the firts team.

so yes we do need to go out and buy players..........and that now links this problem with the takeover thread.

as we know no real money is going to come into the club untill we are sold and even then the fans are asking for the new money to build a new ground.....i would like to see the team fixed first, carry on like this and we will only be getting the amount of fans to fill the local sundays team sidelines.

Anyway returning to the subject in hand and leaving the histrionics out of it.

Clearly the results so far indicate that Roy has a huge task on his hands. Many of us aren't surprised by that, as we strongly suspected that the squad which had been put together and left behind for him wasn't actually that good. That doesn't mean however that we aren't good enough to beat Northampton, and if there's one lessopn to be learnt form last night I hope it's the re-enforcement of the fact that mass rotation on this scale is silly and futile. Now I know Man Utd changed their whole team for the game at Scunthorpe, but they actually USED THE FIXTURE to give returning players a game, used it to bring them on a tad, used it to give their subs a run.

What we've ended up doing is changing the whole team for changing the whole teams sake it seems to me, and we've paid the penalty for it. Could Mereiles not have benefitted from playing, couldn't Konchesky have benefitted, even Cole after his month long lay off. I would have played those people, not because we lost and it's wise after the event, but just because to me it makes sense.

Clearly though as I say the squad is weak, some players are average at best and rubbish at worst. One or two myths about how good some of our players are were put to bed last night, and without question the manager has a huge task.
