He and Lucas were dominated by WBA. Not enough passing ability or movement between the two of them to be effective and I haven't been overly impressed with the way Poulsen has performed, period. I struggle to see how he could be considered even remotely close to the level of Mascherano. Let's see how he fairs alongside Gerrard/Meireles.

They were dominated because Lucas is cr@p.  Err, we weren't really dominated in midfield though now that I think about, but we weren't necessarily dominating either.  We need better from our two CMs either way.  Anyway, I don't know what it is with the boy he really is better than what he plays like, imo, but his confidence is completely shattered.. maybe it was the boos in the past I really don't know but he plays scared.

Sorry but still not good enough and hasnt imposed himself once in a game and is getting dominated by other teams - he seems tidy with his passing - nothing flash with little 5 yard balls but as LFC2007 has said he isnt anywhere near mashers level

Why is it Ben that generally speaking, your support for a player is inversely proportional to how good he is ???

Im sorry but i support every single Liverpool player when they pull on a liverpool shirt .

Im still waiting for Poulsen to back up your statement that he is as good if not better than Masher .

I reckon that paired with a different player other than Lucas and we will see a different Poulsen, Lucas offers no support for his teammates in this position, because it just isnt his position, he made his name by breaking from midfield, he cant hold the ball up, he cant pass other than sideways and he cant tackle (every so often he gets one in but not enough for that position) You need a world class player to counteract what lucas DOESNT bring to the team in my opinion. Its like playing David silva in central midfield and wondering why hes getting punted all over the park

Ah we're doing the old "your statement that..." before going on to say something which the other person didn't say at all game, sorry I didn't realise. In that case, I'm waiting for Roy Hodgson to back up your statement that he'd never win a football match while he was Liverpool manager and that he'd dye his hair blue.

I did say and absolutely do believe Poulsen is a good player, and i did say and do believe he would have challenged masherano for am starting slot. That's not quite the same as saying he is as good as if not better, which would be a silly thing to say anyway as they are different operators altogether.

To be totally honest though, if you cannot see that Poulsen is a different class to Lucas, even though the Dane is clearly not ready yet, then there is no hope for you I'm afraid.

Eh, I thought he was decent against WBA truth be told. Like LFC said we were indeed dominated in the midfield and I put it down to having 2 defensive midfielders and gerrard not really coming back and supporting. We were also equally dire went masch and lucas played, so  you see who the common denominator is; Lucas. Another strange thing about gerrard, he has stopped being a box to box midfielder: if he plays as AM, he doesn't fall back to support the 2 dm's and provide enough link up, and if he plays as CM, he sits back too deep. I find that strange.

Well lets hope he proves me wrong and chances my opinion but nothing i have seen so far suggests as such .

Was just a passenger again today - wandered around the centre of the park with no urgency and just looked lost ,offered nothing throughout the game , gifted them a clear chance in our own box - looking like another Lucas just older .

He's switched mate, keep up will you. He was saying earlier that "nobody would deny that Lucas has been terrible THIS season" which made me sit up. I've got a feeling that last season he was actually getting him mixed up with somebody else, because to my eyes he's playing exactly the same as he did every season before this one.

Had an ok game against Birmingham but his job is to hold his position in the center and keep it simple. So in that regard he did ok. It's his partner that needs to take responsibility of the distribution.

Poulsen can't be judged on creating stuff that isn't his game plan but neither is it Lucas's so we were pretty much screwed against Birmingham. Paired with Meireles or Gerrard we should see a better player. Still not totally on sold on him yet and probably won't ever be but he's got nothing to lose but gain the fans appreciation.
