I couldn't believe the commentry on him "looks rusty" and all that b0ll0cks. Clueless. To me he didn't look rusty at all, I thought he looked class. I've said on another thread that he'll push Masherano for a place, and that's if we play Gerrard in the centre of midfield. He's a stratosphere better than Lucas, not even mentionable in the same breath, and he's far more creative and perceptive in his passing that Masherano. He also scored a perfectly good goal, and neither Lucas nor the Argentine do that very often.

It's the first time I've seen him play, and he's a good player. For 4.5 million he looks like an absolute steal to me.

There's posters saying he's "no better than Lucas". Seriously guys, are you for real  Fecking hell, watch the game with at least a smidgeon of objectivity.

He's a quality midfielder based on the other night. I've never seen him play before that, and ON THAT PERFORMANCE ALONE you can see he's quality. Unreal it is on here sometimes.

I thought Poulsen looked very handy after a slow start to the game. Second half he really stepped it up and put himself about as well as contributing with good passing and shots on goal. For what we have paid he looks a very promising and if he keeps that going it goes some way to proving the point you dont always need to spend big money to bring in good players.

Maybe there was something wrong with the telly I was watching it on, but I though aside from a dodgy 10 minute spell in the first half he was absolutely excellent throughout.

I also thought he was good mate and better than lucas, hard tackler as well and doesn't give in silly freekicks like Lucas does all the time. He doesn't ball watch as much as Masch does too

Don't worry mick, there are some clueless posters (such as Benny The Noon or Benny The Bitter whatever) on this forum who knows fuk all about football. Just ignore them.

On the subject of Poulsen, yes he is absolutely class and it showed in his first game for us. His tackling and positioning is as good as Masch's and passing is certainly better. Yes he is little bit slow but he can make up for that with his experience. In any case, he will most often be a sitter in front of back four and won't need to rely on pace anyway.

Welcome back Leg Barnes or is it Heimdall .

Absolutely Hillarious if anything thinks he is as good or better than Masher - Masher has proved himself time and time again - Poulsen has had one shocking half and one ok half - nothing else yet .

He looked way off the pace in the first half, and probably a little nervous, but he was trying to do all the right things just not pulling them off. He caught his second wind, came out after the break and put in a very accomplished display. Another 90 minutes on Thursday and he will ready to fight for a first team spot. Very encouraging.

I've been watching Poulsen when he was in Sevilla and he always struck as a good player for me. He was one of Sevilla's key players before he moved to Juventus.

Even in Shalcke he was excellent as well, I remember watching the AC Milan game in the Champions League back in 2005 was it (don't remember) and he marked Kaka out of the game! even though they lost 3-2 or they drew 2-2, forgot but I remember Hamit Altintop scoring a screamer for Shalcke.

He is better than Lucas, and in one game alone YOU CAN SEE HE IS BETTER THAN LUCAS

Listen Poulson is a good player and a more than competent midfielder ... but the other night the game in the first half passed him by completely ...his passes very rarely found there intended target, and his positioning and ball control were sloppy to say the least ...this was in all probabilty due to his lack of match sharpness ...However in the second half he retained possession ,and broke up play effectively ,and his control and the calm assurance he gave to the team when in possession reminded me of Didi, and I do expect this to be one of the managers more astute signings .... but for posters to proclaim he was class for the entire game when his contribution in the first half was for want of a better word lethargic ....... then that particular proclamation leaves me slightly flummoxed ???

Poulsen knows distributing the ball, your form can go up and down, but if you know doing that you don't forget it.

Lucas doesn't, and never will.
