Hold onto your hat Igor, that's what's coming mate. No manager is successful everywhere, even Cloughie fecked it up at Leeds, and my guess is that Barca are just too strong even for Mourinho to bridge the gap. The one thing he's never managed is finishing second for a couple of seasons before making the gap up. He's always done it in his first season, and I just can't see it this time (despite obviously rating him very highly). I think Barca will be too strong, and Mourinho's ego allied to Madrids impatience will see them part their ways.

Rafa will get found out at Inter IMHO. His record is pretty ordinary when you really look at it, and my guess is he'll revert to type and be nowhere near what they are expecting or hoping for. Even an Italian title would probably see them asking for more, and I don't think he'll even achieve that. Gone by Crimbo is my prediction.

Roy on the other hand only has to better last seasons pityful show to be a success, and I think he will. I also have a sneak that we'll win a cup in his first season.

Roy gave Fulham insurances he wouldnt come back for any players, yet he's gone to Fulham for Konshelsky spot the irony?

Rafa has already won two trophys with Inter in pre season, you sound very bitter Mick.

You also said another manager would have won us the league with the team we have, lets see if Roy will make that happen, somehow I doubt it very much.

I'm not bitter Lynds, I'm just glad we've got a different manager and I don't think Rafa will do well at Inter.

As for what I said about our squad and what it was good enough to do, at the time I said it I was convinced our squad was good enough to challenge for the title. I was actually convinced of it for about three seasons, and we did challenge for it the once. On the occasion we challenged for it, I think we found ourselves in a situation where we really ought to have won it, but we took our eye off the ball, got involved in things which distracted us and Manchester United finished with a rattle and won it.

As for what Roy will do this season, clearly there are better teams in the league than us at the moment, so expecting him to win the title would be silly. He's had to make money in the transfer market, and has lost a 20 million pound player (what we paid for him) on loan without getting any money back so his objective can hardly be to win the league. His objective must surely be firstly to improve upon the disaster that was last season, and secondly to try and get into the Champions League. The first bit I'm very confident he will do, the second bit won't be easy but I think he might still do at an extreme push. As I've said a few times now, I think Man City will win it with probably Chelsea and the Mancs second and third. We are going to need to get in front of Arsenal and Tottenham and Villa. We'll do Villa no bother, I think we'll squeeze past Tottenham too, and obviously it'll be hard to get past Arsenal. My guess is that to do that, one of Roys biggish signings is going to have to be a hit.

If Rafa's record is ordinary what do you call our current managers  ??? Seems a strange statement to make about a guy who has 2 European trophies on his CV. Im also curious as to why you dont think Benitez will make it christmas, even Italian teams have a certain level of patience and i cant see what makes you think Rafa will be such a disaster there. I dont think he will be as succesful as Mourinho was last year but thats pratically impossible but to state he wont make to christmas seems ridiculous.

Its quite amazing when you get to a situation where a guy who has never ever managed us is revered so highly by posters - Maureen

Yet you have another person who did managed us to some wonderful heights and some amazing games beating all the top teams in Europe and Prem winning trophies along the way including the biggest trophy in club football is revered so low by the same posters - Rafa

And BM if you think Rafa's record is so ordinary - 2 La Ligas 1 CL 1 Uefa 1 FA Cup 1 Super Cup - what do you make of our current managers who has never won a major trophy in 20 odd years of management

i can't believe how highly some people rate jose.  Sure he is a good manager... but when has he ever taken a job with any kind of risk involved?

He guided Chelsea to 2 PL titles after spending millions.  he didn't win the CL and was gone when the going got tough.

inter was hardly a risky job.  Since the corruption in Italy Inter have been the only decent team.  He won them some titles and admittedly, the CL was a huge success.

Now on to Real were again he will have millions and millions to spend.

Seems to be a bit of a trend here... spend millions investing in teams that play diabolical football.  Then move on after some initial success.

Its totally pathetic how some can slag of our previous manager and praise Jose.
Were you slagging Rafa when we dumped them out of the CL twice?

PS: Jose hates Rafa cos he is the one manager that prevented him from winning the CL with his beloved Chelsea.

In all seriousness Bologna are in all sorts of trouble at the moment, and if Inter dno't win this comfortably it's gonna be a long season

Inter played much better football last season :D
