I disagree Parchea's part of the evaluation of Mascherano's game but I agree this

We paid big money for Mash

And I may add, when he hadn't the fame and reputation that he has now.

15M + Hleb isn't the kind of money I expected to get for him. Mascherano has a big reputation in Europe -- as the interest of F.C. Barcelona shows...

I saw the interview with Mascherano on SSN earlier and he came across as quite sincere and genuine in his comments about it being a personal rather than football decision as to why he wants to leave.

I would welcome the £15m + Hleb deal but, like many on here, I am unsure as to how we would fit him into an already packed midfield. I can see any 2 of Maxi, Aquaman and Babel being moved on if Hleb is to be part of the Mascherano deal.

Mario Balotelli is finally set to complete his move to Manchester City, with the player's agent stating the deal could be completed on Friday.

Balotelli has been on City's radar all summer, but it looked as though the deal may have stalled earlier this week when they striker said he could yet stay at Inter Milan.

But after talks between the two clubs on Thursday progress has been made in the negotiations and he now looks set to move to the Premier League in a deal worth close to £30 million in total.

Agent Mino Raiola told Sky Italia: "Today, there was a step forwards, I can confirm that. So I am very confident about closing the deal soon but it doesn't just depend on me.

"Will he play on Saturday against Tottenham? Look, at this point I would say no. Even if we close the deal tomorrow he wouldn't be able to do it, because of all the paperwork. Then the English laws impose details that would exclude his presence as early as Saturday.

"I am very optimistic, but today the deal is not already done. We haven't decided yet if Mario will go to England tomorrow, we need to think about that, but we haven't established that.''

Balotelli's debut is more likely to come against Liverpool on August 23.

"I don't know if he will be there,'' continued Raiola. "For me it would be perfect, but it doesn't just depend on me. Nothing is yet sealed so I can't guarantee that. Our aim is to close everything as soon as possible, we hope to be able to resolve the factors soon.''

Raiola, who revealed that the main problems centred around the bonuses the player would receive, added that they were always working with the end goal in sight. He said: "If Mario already knew about important steps he should predict the lottery numbers.

"He knows that his first aim is Manchester City, we are working for that aim, because it's his choice. Was the deal ever in danger of being called off? I never think of problems, I believe that by working with good intentions you can always bring home results which satisfy all the parties.''

this might be the key to Mash's transfer.

When World Class players walk away from Liverpool its always a great loss Nan ,but its when they walk into a team with loftier ambitions that's the hardship girl ,because Liverpool used to be the pinnacle of achievement its very rare a quality player would leave the Reds for something better ..but now its sadly something we have been forced to accept ............

I think its time to start playing hardball with Barcelona and Inter after all Roy holds all the cards here.... 18 million and Bojan from barca or a straight swap with Busquets ...as for Inter, 20 million plus Kerlon their young Brazillian  midfielder either that or one of them  cough up 35 million ..........
fuck the likes of  Hleb are we suddenly Steptoe and Son picking up the old and used, and the soon to be discarded ???

Let me guess, Hleb is a midfielder. What's up with Roy's obsession with midfielders? Doesn't he like strikers? Can someone tell him he isn't at Fulham anymore?

With the exception of Joe Cole, I've been very unimpressed with Roy's activity in the transfer market. Not happy.

i don't think anyone's pleased to see Masch going, but he wants out and i feel that many have accepted it. Personally, i was more upset at Alonso leaving....in fact, if i was in charge, i'd sell masch and bring him back from Real.

Agree with you totally about playing hardball.
I am sick of other clubs taking the p!ss with transfers.
If Yaya Toure went for 28 million i want around that for mascherano.
Or are Barca going to try and suggest they for some reason sold a better player ?
