I'm delighted we've signed Joe Cole, absolutely delighted.

Not only is he a player of undoubted quality, he's also a type of player we have badly been missing.  That little creative spark and someone who can share the attacking burden that Torres and Gerrard have had to carry.  His fitness is obviously a concern, but he's still only 28 and we should get a lot of games out of him in the next few seasons.

Interesting Harry Redknapp has said that they offered Cole a 'great deal', implying perhaps it was more financially than we did, but that he wanted to sign for Liverpool for footballing reasons.  I'm impressed that the lad has shown the desire to play for us by turning down more cash elsewhere, turning down the chance to stay in London and also turning down Champions league football elsewhere.

Instantly with this signing I feel like we have far more chance of keeping Gerrard and Torres.  What a difference a day makes!

I honestly can't get over how much of an idiot you have to be to post absolute camel sh!t like that.

So many issues, where do I start -

letting talent like Insua go away for peanuts

Oh my days...Insua is not talented, not talented in the sense that Liverpool FC use the word. The lad isn't up to it at all. A liability and I'm sure would of been traded off under Benitez.

but a free is not a free you see, its actually 19mill in disguise
Go back to school and learn. Seriously it's embarrassing. Even if we paid 6 million in signing on fees and pay him 90K a week, it still is better than Benayoun. Benayoun's transfer fee will negate Cole's singing on fee, essentially making it a player swap. The wages reflect how much better than Benayoun he is.

Mate I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. My take on it was that Ace was being sarcy, ironic like.

Edit: Bobs obviously got his special and exclusive "copy Mick but jump in front of his post so it looks like you thought of it first" function up and running again. I'll have to watch out for that one form now on  :D .

There are two significant aspects to Joe Coles' signing that I'd like to highlight in his official thread. First to congratulate Roy Hodgson on a high profile first signing that sends a clear signal to the football world that Liverpool are not dead and buried as some parts of the media would have you believe.

Second to state loud and clear that Joe Cole has made a brave decision knowing the financial state we're in, knowing how the owners aren't going to be able to provide unlimited transfer funds to bring in other world class players and knowing the fans are pretty frustrated at the current situation at Anfield.

It could have been very easy for Cole to sign for Arsenal or Spurs and fit into a smooth running club, team and CL football.

The lad has decided to take his fate into his own hands and come to Liverpool and I admire that. Respect to the lad.

Well done Joe, you're very welcome at Anfield.  :buttrock

i still say a fully fit aquilani is better than a fit joe cole. I still say play joe cole on the left play aqua in the hole and maxi on the right. Stevie and lucas centre midfield.
