the worry he'll be a harry kewell isn't justified as Kewell was a total pusssy, who had no heart and just wanted to turn up for the big finals, and then do fuukk all the rest of the year. I hated that waanker so much.

the only worry i have is that there have been a few signings over the years that I ABSOLUTELY wanted us to make, that i was overjoyed with, convinced they were the last piece of the puzzle everytime.

the list reads:

- Stan Collymore
- Paul Ince
- Harry Kewell
- Robbie Keane
- Joe Cole

It's a point I was trying to make yesterday Scott - we always seem to get these players who look like they are the missing price in jigsaw and pay big money for them late in their career only to be let down .

Roll the dice and close you're eyes mate! That's the way it goes!

No matter, this latest signing has put the Red Bull back into our fan base at a time when it was most needed. i think for that reason alone it's a massive signing.

Bear in mind the jigsaw always keeps changing.

Not meaning to go on about it but has EVERYONE watched that 4 minute clip of the new kid Shelvey? I'm as excited about this kid as anything else that's been going on the last couple of days!

Yep he is certainly looking a great young player but I'm still very worried we have no back up to Torres - if he gets injured then we are toothless and our steps forward mean nothing - we need another striker

This time though we're starting a afresh with a new manager and that gives us a certain amount of positivity to fall back on. We're also coming off the back of a horrendous season and so even a relatively underwhelming contribution will seem like a bonus. Plus he's a free and we don't actually lose much if it doesn't work out, and we would probably be able to sell him anyway. I really believe he will do alright, though.

I also agree with Niall's considered analysis of Kewell. You just can't compare the two.

I'm pretty sure one will be coming in over the next few weeks mate. It was VERY encouraging to hear Ngog being linked with a loan move which hopefully means he isn't seen as a genuine option. I suspect the club will wait to see how things go on the Masch front, if he wants out and someone is willing to pay the money then I suspect the budget for a striker will be greater than it is right now. Will be interesting to see how Jovanovic goes in the pre-season as I suspect he will see plenty of time up front.
