Hopefully Mascherano stays and we have a bit of continuity .. But if he decides to leave then i think it wont be as bad as some might think... Its not that hard finding a defensive midfield replacement who is of high quality for relatively cheap money... The rest of what we get could be used to improve our fragile backline.

Last season there were serious problems in terms of team spirit within the camp (in my opinion obviously), and it's too easy to blame it on not enough of the "arm around the shoulder". Clearly (in my opinion obviously) there were factions within the camp, and the contrast between Masherano's noises about wanting to play under the previous manager again so much, and the silence of nearly all the other players gives me an inkling that he may be close to the fracture in the group.
The last thing the new manager needs is an enemy within, he needs all the players onboard from game one. There was nothing wrong with Mash's commitment last season after the first couple of months (because I know people will say he's was the only one who seemingly gave a feck), and he's a player I like a lot. I just think when you get this saga every season and you've just got a new manger, now's a good time to move him on.

interview was on talksport this morning:

puts the record straight with regards to mascherano.

Essentially that Roy left a message for Masch but didn't specify or necessarily expect a call back, his text message even said that so it was just basically a quick introduction from the manager to the player.
So the whole no response from Masch was blown out of all proportion.
The club have not received a bid from anyone as yet - I got the impression Roy doesn't want him to leave.
He did say they were still working on improving the squad but no names or positions mentioned.

And i have been calling him all the cnts as well![]()
I would be very surprised if he is still here next season though despite what Roy is saying now.
Maybe that interview is his way not openly advertising the fact masher is taking the p!ss.
