No point keeping a player who wants to go.  The trouble is replacing one of the best holding midfield players in the world.

Toure not available.  Cambiasso I doubt would be free and his 30 soon.  Not really keen on bringing in players 30+ unless we get a really good deal.  Marques is another one on the wrong side of 30.

Lassandro Diarra is someone I would like.

Well it's not like we haven't seen this one coming. I just hope Inter or Barca make their move quickly rather than playing the waiting game in the hope the price comes down. I reckon inter will be the favourites on the grounds that Rafa will be desperate to get Masch into the set-up there.

A couple of good player exchange shouts in this thread. Cambiasso would be great but I really can't see that one happening. Ace suggested Chivu who is a player i've liked for years now. Nanny suggested Marquez who I also rate VERY highly.

As for replacing Masch, I really like Deffour at Standard Liege. I know the mancs are being linked with the player but I suspect he could be got for around the £15 million mark. I really don't want Muntari at LFC.

Sky Sports are reporting Javier Mascherano has told Roy Hodgson he wants to leave Liverpool.

The Argentina midfielder returned for pre-season training on Monday after being given an extended break following his involvement at the World Cup finals.

Hodgson had previously admitted that he had been unable to contact the 26-year-old whilst on holiday, casting heavy doubts over whether he would stay at Anfield this season.

The Reds boss met with Mascherano and the player's agent Walter Tamer to discuss his future and widespread reports claim the tough-tackling anchor man has expressed a wish to leave.

Inter Milan, now coached by former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, have been heavily linked with a £25million bid for Mascherano before the transfer window closes.

His representative Tamer has previously suggested a move to the European champions would be a 'dream' for Mascherano.

Any departure for Mascherano would leave Hodgson in need of a replacement and reports have claimed Sulley Muntari could be included in part exchange.

West Ham United's influential midfielder Scott Parker has also been mooted as a potential target for Hodgson, who is keen to bolster his squad.

Mascherano joined Liverpool from the Hammers in January 2007 after just six months at Upton Park and he has made almost 140 appearances during his time on Merseyside.

Scott Parker.  West Ham want silly money for him plus he isnt even that good. Not forgetting his another player approaching 30.  I would like someone in coming into there peak or someone who is going to get better.

Unlikely to happen, and there isnt any point in forcing him to stay.

I'm guessing we get Muntari and around 15 mill.

Perhaps we should remind Rafa that it was he who valued Masch at £50mill.....but given the clubs links with Rafa we should offer Masch to him at a cut price of £40 mill.

that wouldn't be the worst deal in the world to be honest. at least he knows this league.

what's for certain is we definitely need a replacement. it isn't lucas' natural game to play in the holding midfield position.

Get rid of all of deFuchin Mercenaries and cash in the chips and get players who want to play for the club and wear the shirt.

We want to be doin it now, not on transfer deadline day, left with all the cash and no-one to spend it on.

It might be 1 step backward, but hopefully 2 steps forward with the Moolahh.....

Almost all players are mercenaries. As long as the club gives them what they demand they are happy to proclaim their "love" for the club.
