Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Ideally I'd keep Mash but if he wants to leave and is adament in doing so we should obviously hold out for the best price possible.

As it stands (with current personal) I think the team would look great if we lined up like the..

                                                Reina

                          Johnson       Carra   Skittle      Agger

                                        Gerrard     Mash
                          Kuyt                                  Jovanivic
                                              Mr Cole

                                               Nando
Football is a relatively simple game and Roy knows it ;)

I didn't put Jovanovic in my team because I forgot about him :D, but other than that it's the same team. I cannot concieve of a scenario whereby if we are able to play nearly all of that team for nearly all of the season we will come 7th, anly a handful of points above Blackburn Rovers. I simply cannot see it.

Call me wildly optimistic, call me a c..., but I think we are going to go alright I really do.

To be honest whilst I like Masch as a player if we are to strengthen other areas of the team by buying quality I wouldn't be too sad if he was sold.

It just depends on the targets that Roy has in mind, obviously at least 1 left back is a priority, still feel we need that extra striker and depending on what happens with Riera and Babel I would also like a wide player who can play on both flanks.

Yes I'd be happy enough to let him go as well. Last season there were serious problems in terms of team spirit within the camp (in my opinion obviously), and it's too easy to blame it on not enough of the "arm around the shoulder". Clearly (in my opinion obviously) there were factions within the camp, and the contrast between Masherano's noises about wanting to play under the previous manager again so much, and the silence of nearly all the other players gives me an inkling that he may be close to the fracture in the group.

The last thing the new manager needs is an enemy within, he needs all the players onboard from game one. There was nothing wrong with Mash's commitment last season after the first couple of months (because I know people will say he's was the only one who seemingly gave a feck), and he's a player I like a lot. I just think when you get this saga every season and you've just got a new manger, now's a good time to move him on.

Hopefully Mascherano stays and we have a bit of continuity .. But if he decides to leave then i think it wont be as bad as some might think... Its not that hard finding a defensive midfield replacement who is of high quality for relatively cheap money... The rest of what we get could be used to improve our fragile backline.

interview was on talksport this morning:

puts the record straight with regards to mascherano.

I agree - that said, I actually thought Masch was one of our better players last year. I realise that is a contradiction in a way from my previous comments.
I just think we could use the money to buy the players we really need, assuming Aquaman steps up this year, he could be like a new player for us.

Essentially that Roy left a message for Masch but didn't specify or necessarily expect a call back, his text message even said that so it was just basically a quick introduction from the manager to the player.
So the whole no response from Masch was blown out of all proportion.
The club have not received a bid from anyone as yet - I got the impression Roy doesn't want him to leave.

He did say they were still working on improving the squad but no names or positions mentioned.

And i have been calling him all the cnts as well  :D

I would be very surprised if he is still here next season though despite what Roy is saying now.
Maybe that interview is his way not openly advertising the fact masher is taking the p!ss.

I think its safe to say that Roy doesnt want anyone to leave until he has had a look at them and decided if they have any future at LFC.
Mascherano has no right to not answer his managers phone calls or even have the decency to make contact with his new boss

Yes I guess there are perhaps things he wouldn't admit on National Radio.
My feeling is he will move on, I think if that's the case would be better it was sorted quickly giving the manager the funds he needs.

As ever we are just guessing to a degree. I still think it would have been the done thing to have responded, especially to a new manager - doesn't take long to send a quick text back.

Well, if he refuses to sign a new contract I want him gone.
Letting him go on bosman in 2 years would be a disaster.

Roy will sort it. It'll be as easy as 'if your in - ya in, if ya want out - theres the door, show me the money'

Roy doesn't want bad karma in this team he's shaping.
