The idea is to motivate them to win, not make them want to lose.  :D

I had my doubts about a three year contract, although I guess the idea is to give him two years and assess from there without him walking away after two.

The reason I said I dont think he will be here for 5 years is his track record points to him not staying in one place for to long.

In the last 15 years.

Internazionale                 2 Years
Blackburn Rovers             1 Year
Internazionale                 Couple of months
Grasshopper                    1 Year
Copenhagen                    1 Year
Udinese                            6 Months
United Arab Emirates        2 Years
Viking                                1 Year
Finland                              1 Year
Fulham                              2 1/2 Years

Fair enough observation, but how many of those clubs are big clubs? Inter

Wouldn't read too much into short stints with international sides, although I'd guess that record wasn't debated much or at all when discussing terms with Woy

Additionally if the Liverpool job hadn't of come up I don't get the impression he would of been actively looking to move from Fulham. I could of easily seen him there for 2 more years.

Hodgson is planning a new role for Dalglish under his Anfield reign.

He explained: "I never doubted that Kenny would leave. He's been offered a role, which I believe is a crucial role for the club - not just in the short term, but in the long term.

"The club will benefit from Kenny's work long after I've left Liverpool and long after he's left as well.

"He is very aware of all the players at the Academy and I understand there are a few promising players emerging.

"He will liaise between Melwood and Kirkby and keep me updated with any developments that he deems necessary.

"There is a bridge between the Academy and the first team that needs to be created and I believe he can help build that bridge."

I like this! Especially the very last sentence.  :)

sounds like kenny and roy shouldn't have too much trouble working together. this from various crappy football sites;

Kenny Dalglish says he’s happy to be available to new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson.
Dalglish is known to have been deeply disappointed at not getting the chance to step into the Anfield hotseat again.
he said: “The most important thing at the moment is for Roy to get on with the job in hand – and that’s to get the first team organised. Let him get on with that and when he’s got time we can sit down and have a chat. But it isn’t about Kenny Dalglish, Roy Hodgson, Christian Purslow or the board. It’s about the football club and this is a very important time for the club. There’s no way that anyone should be looking at their own self interest – everything should be simply and purely for the benefit of the club.”
The fact Dalglish is happy to wait until the time is right to discuss matters indicates the 59-year-old Kop hero is not about to walk out or create issues at a critical time for Hodgson and the club as the former Fulham boss settles into the biggest job in his life.
Dalglish, who has known Hodgson for many years and has enormous respect for him, added: “Roy has more important things to do and worry about than Kenny Dalglish. “Just park me.”

on another note, i was just wondering if and how roy celebrates goals from the dug-out. can't honestly say i've watched fulham score one in the last season or two

I agree.

yes you have the same right as i did when i did not wishh Rafa to get the job due to me thinking he was only ever going to be a CL manager and had a lack of understanding of the English game, hope you dont get as mush stick as i got for 5 years.

Roy wont be here for 5 years so I doubt it.

We could be five years into his 3 year plan if he copies Rafa

masch has not returned any of  Roy's phone calls or messages but he's not resigned to him leaving the club

fernando is negotiations with purslow about his future after meeting Roy briefly with no assurances from Torres that he sees his future at Anfield

the meetin with gerrard the other day was very positive

If Masch isnt returning any phone calls or anything then its a clear sign he wants to leave.

Come on Roy get us a good £30 Mill out of him!
