THey are a tiny club with tinier aspirations, dwarfed by their close neighbours Chelsea. his is why when Hodgson got them to 7th in his first full season then to a Europena final in his second full season, without spending any money it was/is an astounding achievement.

They don't play route one football though, they haven't got the players for it. Now back to topic.

Maybe thats why they are used to hiring  a man who mirrors their own lofty ambitions (Chris Coleman anyone ) ....... just a thought like  :D

I agree with Dundreamin to be honest. Here's a few facts to chew on.

1. Roy Hodgson is our new manager.
2. The previous manager isn't our manager any more.
3. Some people are happy we changed the manager.
4. Some people aren't.
5. Roy Hodgson will soon buy a couple of players I should think. None of us know who they are.
6. Roy Hodgson will pretty soon have been in charge of Liverpool for 20 matches.
7. As a club we are financially in the sh!t.

Now, I don't think anyone would dispute any of those facts (Benny might, but we'll leave him out of it for just a second). Those who don't think we should have got rid of the previous manager, and/or are disappointed with the appointment of Roy Hodgson as our new manager, are entirely entitled to their opinion. Equally, those who are either happy that we changed managers, and/or are happy we gave the job to Roy, are entitled to their view. Equally, both sides are entitled to argue the toss. Having said that, there is little point in falling out about things at this stage, because he hasn't actually done anything yet. Pretty soon though he will, and we can all fall out about it then.

There, it all seems quite simple to me.

Whereas some posters are just simply on here .... a tad to boring to court or post anything contentious and way too much of an @rselicker to hold opinions of their own ...

Interesting how you start of with facts, then drift into conjecture. I mean you are fairly safe in that he should get 20 games and he may well buy 2 players, and fairly safe ground on the financial comment, but facts is an overused word on a forum where opinion rules

Not picking on you, just seems to me that some on here like to use the word 'fact' far more than it actually applies. Not sure it needs using at all, most people are aware of what are actual facts and purely opinion or speculation. Telling us Rafa has left and Roy Hodgson is the new manager is hardly news nor a fact few were aware of, nor do people really need 'facts' being fed them like they're in a classroom of 11 year olds

So the point of all that was.....................? That people can say what they think, people will argue the toss and there will be little agreement? Did we need telling that?!?!?!? Think most could have worked that out without being spoon fed it

It's about time the moderators did their job and carded/suspended the abusive little MFs.

Maybe also a little more creativity from posters wouldn't go amiss, find something else to talk about without having some of these 'insightful analyses' that have popped telling us 'facts' and the only real facts contained within are as informative as being told about gravity keeping your feet on the ground and how water is wet! What next, Liverpool play in red?!?!?

Roy wont be here for 5 years so I doubt it.

I had my doubts about a three year contract, although I guess the idea is to give him two years and assess from there without him walking away after two.

Depends what he does in the first couple of seasons. Disastrous start and season could see him gone in one, but any kind of cup win and 4+ years might be his reward. If Rafa hadn't won the Champions League at the first time of asking would he have got six seasons? Probably not on the basis of the league alone, the FA Cup probably helped too. In the end they botched the contract length bigtime, he should have had another 2-3 years left after finishing second. Why 2-3 years? Well if he couldn't win the Premiership within two years of finishing second then I doubt he ever would have, but the trend these days seems to be to commit to long contracts.

Even someone who's not won a major trophy and could :censored: up bigtime here is getting a three year contract. I can understand it with players, not wanting them to leave with no transfer fee due, but not so convinced with managers. Surely you can put performance related clauses in with them? Ultimately poor contract management cost this club a lot of money, a three year contract is a bit of a gamble on a manager who's track record is not great - and I'm not going to talk up mid-table finishes with mid-table clubs, or indeed cup runs in a competition where the competitors were only just above mid-table clubs themselves

The reason I said I dont think he will be here for 5 years is his track record points to him not staying in one place for to long.

In the last 15 years.

Internazionale                 2 Years
Blackburn Rovers             1 Year
Internazionale                 Couple of months
Grasshopper                    1 Year
Copenhagen                    1 Year
Udinese                            6 Months
United Arab Emirates        2 Years
Viking                                1 Year
Finland                              1 Year
Fulham                              2 1/2 Years

Fair enough observation, but how many of those clubs are big clubs? Inter

Wouldn't read too much into short stints with international sides, although I'd guess that record wasn't debated much or at all when discussing terms with Woy
