Dont believe them Roy. Batern down the hatches guys this is going to be a nightmare summer for us.

What's gonna happen is. Stevie will stay, hes Liverpool through and through. But Mascherano and Torres will go.

Wrong.

I think Mascherano is gone, Inter Milan or Barcelona.

Whereas Torres and Gerrard is 50/50.

I genuinely believe Torres wants to stay, his comments over the Rafa departure didn't show any negativity to the decision. Also he is notoriously loyal to clubs he plays for, he doesn't chase money.

Gerrard however may be thinking his last chance to play abroad will be now. He is loyal and as such would not go to another English club, but he may be tempting in joing a foreign heavyweight. Real Madrid say.

IMHO if Gerrard stays, Torres stays.

Gerrard is the key.

How can you say wrong if it hasn't happened yet. That's why I said that's what I thought would happen.

I think if Stevie was intent on going he wouldn't be giving him a public endorsment. It would just look plain hypocritical for him to say that and then say he wants to go.

He has clearly walked into the job with his eyes wide shut, if he believes a single word they say about transfer budgets and players wont be sold to pay off the debt.

For all we know he may of had written guarantees in his contract. Let's not speculate.

For all we know Rafa could have had those same assurances writted into the new contract he signed with us but we all know what happened that summer.

Spot on, if one goes I am sure the other will want to.

I can't see Torres staying if Gerrard goes.

Overall Roy (not chuffin Woy) is our new manager, let's get behind him and give the guy a chance.
Who knows what will happen over the next few weeks.

I thought it was a spot on interview and he answered all the questions as I would expect him to.

He's got the right attitude for the history and tradition at this club - thats for sure.

I have a good feeling

its down to money, no matter how much a player loves a club if some is going to pay silly money for them they would be a fool to turn it down.
i would say 40 mill for SG and offer over 65mil for torres and the club must sell them.....thats the world we live in.

both wish to stay at the club but the club will sell them for that sort of money

RT @ robbohuyton Roy Hodgson is decent at driving a milk float. Now he's at the wheel of a Formula One car with no fuel and he's expected to make the podium.

fyi press conference is at 13:30

We should give the guy a chance and all get behind him, he is the manager of OUR club so support him like you would the club.
If some of the big fancy dans want to go well let them go, but some, I think will become better players under Roy.
Welcome to Anfield and the great city of Liverpool Mr Hodgson I am sure you will be made very welcome.

Very well said. Couldn't agree more. It's a fantastic opportunity for Roy Hodgson and I think he will respond well to the challenge. As for what he can and can't do in the transfer market let's just wait and see. I certainly think some of his signings at Fulham have been equal to anything Rafa achieved in the under £10m bracket excluding Riena. Rafa has balanced the books a lot better than the vast majority of people (especially bitters !!) give him credit for - in 6 years he bought players costing £230m and sold players to the value of £155m - net spend £75m or £12.5m a year. If we sold Torres for £75m he would have spent nothing and there are very few clubs that could do that. It is just a shame he wasn't a little bit luckier with some of his lower end signings. The likes of Alonso and a £20m profit should not be quickly forgotten as much as I did not want him to go.

As for Steve Gerrard. I think he will inevitably keep his options open. He has put up with so much sh.ite from the owners and the press that it would not surprise me,especially given his age,if he did go.I hope that doesn't happen but I would be the first to wish him good luck and thank him for his loyalty during some difficult times. He deserves a lot more in his trophy cabinet and time is running out.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 21/22 to 25/26  (10 years
are in brackets 16/17 to 25/26 )
LFC €490m (€650m)
Everton +€15m (€290m)
Arsenal €770m (€1107m)
Spurs €665m (€892m)
Chelsea €740m (€1045m)
Man City €460m (€1095m)
Man United €780m (€1340m)

They don't half ask some stupid questions do they. Asking Phil Neal which out of Stevie or Fernando would he sell if he had to let 1 go? Is he really going to say 1 or the other?

"ha ha I hope he does as well there as he did at Blackburn. 6 points for united this season". Would you believe they actually read that out on SSN? And then said they were keen to hear from other supporters.

Come off it. Hodgson was rejecting all Liverpool management claims prior to his appointment. Players are always diplomatic whilst contract/transfer negotiations are taking place.

Why would he not back a manager whilst he is still at Liverpool. If he were to be negotiating a move away form Anfield he is not going to risk his Liverpool future, should the move fall through,  by refusing to back the new manager.

Until a contract has been signed nothing is guaranteed, his own circumstances with the Chelsea transfer prove that.
