I wonder what people would be saying if we got either Allerdyce or MaClaren as manager as both of them are more successful than Woy .

Oh and Rijkaard hardly left Barca in glorious circumstances a couple of years ago. Hiddink still couldn't get Chelski above Rafa's Liverpool in 2009 and Capello well what a joke. Deschamps he doesn't want to come and his managerial experience is still quite limited. I'm not convinced by Lippi either. Van Gaal is probably the best of the bad foreign bunch in all honesty. O'Neill's Villa are a boring team. Liverpool need someone who doesn't think his ego and importance is bigger than the team. Hodgson fits the bill as far as that is concerned.

Aye, and Roy's won the UEFA cup.  :kungfu:

Why am I even talking to you for? You're the Carlton Palmer of footballing chat.

Some of the peole on here make me laugh/sick at their attitude to the new man brought in to help us
Those backing him are accused of making him out to be a messiah who can work miracles. Those not are calling him a doddering codger with a speech impediment.
Rafa is gone. Departed. Happy in a fabulous new job and no longer attached to us. The miracle in Istanbul will always be associated with him. But. He won FU'CK ALL since 2006. He spent plenty and (for various reasons) gave us nothing for four years. He has left us with a questionable squad and a bad taste in our mouths. What he could have done in different circumstances is irrelevant. Some of us, rightly, predicted we would never win the league while he was manager. He played his part in lifting us back into being a force in Europe, but he is not our manager any longer.
Give up the squabbling and bitching and look forward to an uncertain, yet possibly exciting new era in LFC's magnificent history.
The King is dead. Long live the King!

I'm annoyed because we have dropped our standard of manager . I know rafa has left and understand the reasons but when you loose a manager you look for a step up and we haven't got that step up - it is looking like we are getting a manager who is less successful in the prem than the likes of Hughes , Allerdyce , McClaren and McLeish - the fact he is a nice guy seems to cloud his actual managerial record which is not very good . I wanted a proven successful manager to come in - not a 60 year old journey man who has won nothing of any significance to speak about

Benny lad, I'm gonna try to say this without throwing insults at you...

we've had to drop our standard of manager because we have dropped our standard of football and all the standards 'behind the scenes' at this club have dropped too. We can not attract the mourinihos, hiddinks of this world. The team on the field is in a mess and needs stablising and some discipline injecting. Players need to know their place on the team, the team needs to go back to basics and start over again. This is why Roy could be the best man for the job.

It's Official - http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/liverpool-appoint-hodgson

Roy Hodgson has been appointed the new manager of Liverpool FC.

The 62-year-old former Fulham, Inter Milan and Switzerland manager has agreed terms with the club on a three-year contract and becomes the 18th manager in our history.

He will be unveiled to the world's media this afternoon after overseeing the first day of pre-season training at Melwood.

Hodgson joins us from Fulham, where he guided the Cottagers to the Europa League final in May and was voted Manager of the Year by the League Managers' Association.

He exclusively told Liverpoolfc.tv: "This is the biggest job in club football and I'm honoured to be taking on the role of manager of Britain's most successful football club. I look forward to meeting the players and the supporters and getting down to work at Melwood."

-----------------

Good luck Roy.

I know the situation Lee and I know it all comes down to the owners and the royal f.uck ups they have done - but that still doesn't stop me being annoyed at our standards dropping and being very disappointed that we have employed a manager because he stopped a club getting relegated . IMO he isn't good enough to manage us but he will get my support because he needs it .

:nod  What he said.

Standards have dropped. When rafa is hailed as a god like figure who can do absolutely no wrong, then yes, standards have dropped. Playing the same stale football week in, week out, out of all cup competitions early and end up finishing 7th, then again, your right. Standards have dropped. As this is not rafas fault (apparently).

Amazing how people go out of there way to stand by rafa regardless and yet are showing no patience or support for roy (not woy, how childish) as he isnt up to rafas standards.

Yes he is a gentleman and he did get on well with the people of liverpool and was fantastic with regards to charities, but people are not judging him from that. Its on the pitch where he failed.

We needed a change, and now we have it. Roy is the man at the helm now, how about giving him the chance everyone gave rafa?

And dont let them tw@ts in the boardroom walk all over you.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
