OK
"run lots" means he runs around much of the time. Usually with not much purpose. It looks as if hes busy and having an effect on the game.
"strolls around" means that other times during a match he wanders aimlessly while play is going on around him. He is not doing much but observing.
No contradiction
If I would have said: "he constantly runs all game" and then said "he strolls around through the game" then you would have had a point.
But I didnt so you havent
:;):

Well that makes more sense.

even if it is utter sh!te  :D

I never see him just strolling around. I actually think with mascherano and Kuyt he is one of the hardest working players in the side.
Limited definately, someone who strolls around...no chance.

I never said "just strolling around" did I? That would imply that I meant thats all he does. He runs lots as well.
Just because you have never seen him strolling doesnt mean it doesnt happen. I have watched games specifically focussing on Lucas and witnessed him with my own eyes strolling and lightly jogging round the pitch as the action goes on around him. I suggest you check out some recorded games and you will see what I mean.

I will leave it at that, i do watch games mate.
I dont need to watch them back to disagree, as at the time i would have noticed something like that.
Your description seems more of someone like Babel, he wanders round aimlessly and then every now and then will get a burst of effort for some reason. Lucas to me is nothing like that.
But we'll agree to disagree on this one.

Babel is far far worse than Lucas for it I agree. Sometimes we only notice when we focus on specifics.
But I stand by my observations and accept you disagree

its funny looking at some of the OPTA stats which have just come out for the 09/10 season. these two in particular made me sit up and take notice...

Tacklers        Team       Tackles  Success rate
Mascherano   Liverpool 178             81%
Diamé     Wigan    176             71%
Muamba     Bolton         152             67%
Lucas    Liverpool 148             69%
Petrov Aston Villa 143             76%

Passers         Team          Passes   Accuracy
Ferguson       Birmingham 2169 80%
Mascherano     Liverpool         2115 83%
Lampard       Chelsea         1927 81%
Terry       Chelsea         1906 87%
Lucas       Liverpool         1832 84%

i'm sure that lost will jump in and say that 'yeah, but they were all 5 yard sideways passes' and other such imaginary bullshít, but its revealing that mascherano and lucas our 'disasterous' midfield partnership feature in the top 5 tacklers and passers for the season. no sign of gerrard in there at all, which is illuminating.

the common consensus on here is that we need a more creative midfield pairing and i go along with that completely, but i'm imagining that these are just the kind of stats that benitez is looking at when he's picking his team. its all about 'controlling the game' right?

another non-lucas-related stat that comes up is that we hit the post 20 times - way more than any other team. i wonder if half of those had gone in where we would be. at the very least its going to provide a lot of ammunition for rafa and his rafapologists.

"imaginary :censored::laugh: You could pass to the man next to you every time you get the ball and have a 100% acurate pass rate.
Passes and tackles do not win games. Goals do

So we're all agreed, we need strikers more than we need to rattle on about Lucas, close the thread, move on :D

cool. next season lets play 0-0-10 then.

if lucas only makes 5 yards sideways passes his 84% success rate means he misplaced 293 of them. surely he can't be that shít??

Average at his very, very best.
Chelsea, skank ush'ited and ar'seholes wouldnt give him a look in.
Rafa loves him. He picks him. So he plays
Thats the most exciting thing I can say about him

Every team has one tho. Would we play Park, Fletcher or Bendtner?

Actually, looking at Manure, the old players, the average players... how do they keep doing it?

Truthfully I would prefer any of those three as theyre all forward looking players who attack and get in the oppositions box.
As far as the older players. They have been brought up on purple noses philosophy of keeping the ball in their opponents half so there is more chance of putting the ball in their net. (he stole that off us by the way)

Why wouldn't they? He's better than Anderson, who's an absolute puddin'. Oh, and cost near 3 times as much.
