"run lots" means he runs around much of the time. Usually with not much purpose. It looks as if hes busy and having an effect on the game.
"strolls around" means that other times during a match he wanders aimlessly while play is going on around him. He is not doing much but observing.

If I would have said: "he constantly runs all game" and then said "he strolls around through the game" then you would have had a point.

I never see him just strolling around. I actually think with mascherano and Kuyt he is one of the hardest working players in the side.
