I feel/hope that we have turned a corner and will get better as the season goes. It’s been a tough season to be fair but I still think we can make CL. The death of Jota, long term injuries of the whole right side of defense, the Konate situation, bedding in a lot of new players, losing some leaders, Slot losing his deputy, our legend Salah’s incredible decline…..I think that Klopp too would have struggled with all that.

I don’t think we can overplay the Jota thing either and I don’t mean about missing the player on the field although he certainly would have helped us. Just at the time you need the team to start honing their killer instinct and attitude as defending champions, a popular and big part of the team dies tragically. I can just imagine every player suddenly questioning life and the importance of family etc and the unimportance of football. The wives crying with each other, everyone worried about his kids and wife, it would be the worst way to start preseason. It’s easy to discount it now but it must have had an effect.
