LIVERPOOL VS EVERTON - merseyside derby

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Can't wait for this now...

                            Reina

Carragher      Skrtel           Kyrgiakos           Insua

Maxi             Lucas             Mascherano       Riera

                         Gerrard

                          Kuyt

That's what I'd go for.  I reckon Benitez will play that back four and that midfield 2 with Gerrard in front for definite, it's just what he plays around that which may vary.  In that case there's no room for Aquilani from the start.  He might of course play Kuyt wide right and Ngog up top and what he might also do is play Aurelio in front of Insua.  Babel from the start I just don't see, but at least he and Ngog can be half decent impact subs.

because steven gerrard is not a central midfielder and hasn't been for the best part of 5 years now.

Oh really, that's news to me and obviously to Capello as well, no doubt news to Stevie as well, did Rafa tell you that?

you mean the capello who plays him wide left for the national team after taking over from mclaren who played him wide right?

listen everybody knows gerrard can do a more than decent job in central midfield but it's not his best position, especially in the formation that we play. and everyone knows that rafa wouldn't play gerrard in a central 2 in such a big game anyway.

Not sure if Lucas too a suitable player for in this physical game but we dont have other players anyway. Probably better to play Agger alongside Masch but think Rafa will just play the old team. Dont have good feeling on this game. *sigh*

Still prefer Aquilani to attack and push them back.

Oh I fully agree with one point, hat Rafa will never play him CM but personally I think that is where Stevie is the most effective at the moment for us, the reason for saying that is that both Mascha and Lucas are so-so CM's. Mascha is a very good DM but is very average going forwards, as for Lucas, well the less said the better. The times we have had stevie in Cm we have dominated matches and scored for fun, ever since Rafa stopped doing that we have struggled to control games and create opportunities, for me it's simple, obviously you and Rafa see things differently but maybe you could explain it to me.

The white BiB theory . Over the course of the season , pictures have been taken of Liverpool players in training and put up on the Offal before the game . Some bright spark has noticed that more often than not (very accurate actually ) that the players waering the white bibs will be the leading contenders to start the game . Other than possibly last minute changes this has been correct up to the present day . Bit obvious i think ,but seems to work .

First post here!

Been looking forward to this game for ages now, got a good feeling about it and I think our performance will be the best we've had this season.

Everton have hit form recently, can;t argue with that, but they are still unavoidably inferior to us, and the passion of the derby will bring our players to show them up for sure.

I'd like to see:

                       Reina
Carra      Kyri               Skrtel      Aurelio

                      Masch

       Gerrard     Aquilani      Riera

              Maxi            Kuyt

I think maxi can do a decent job as a striker, has good movement with the ball, can finish, and can bring stevie and aquilani into play and those three should be able to bring a good level of creativity to our play. I like Lucas, but when we have him and Masch together, we don't create enough imo. I think Insua needs a rest.

Gerrard to step up a gear and really run the show

3-0 to the Reds: Gerrard 2, Kuyt

However, I know the chances of seeing anything remotely like that are zero :D

More likely to be a tough, gritty game with Lucas and Masch fighting hard in the midfield, and we scrape it 2-1.
