Even if he isn't fit, if he's on crutches, I'd stick him in there to make sure that gimp Zorba doesn't play for this club again...

No to Carra out on that side. No to Lucas in midfield - bring on the Centurion instead for his first start. What better place to grace the team than at (errrrr...) fortress Anfield.
Voronin to remain on the bench...in Stanley Park, by the duckpond.

Don’t want to see Carragher on the right again and Kuyt needs to be dropped. We will need width to break down a compact and stubborn Birmingham defence so Dossena should play left wing.

                        Reina

Johnson   Carragher   Agger   Insua

                  Masch   Lucas

          Babel    Benayoun   Dossena

                        Ngog

Subs: Kuyt, Aquilani, Pacheco, Spearing, Darby, Kyrgiakos, Cavalieri

On the Guardian that Torres is out for the next 4 games - ruled out of Spain's next two games as well. the specialist in Spain prescribed 3 weeks solid rest and he "might" not have to go under the knife....

taken from a website......

M Skrtel - Virus
F Aurelio - Calf/Shin Injury
A Riera - Hamstring Injury
M Kelly - Ankle/Foot Injury
G Johnson - Calf Muscle Strain
F Torres - Abdominal Strain
S Gerrard - Groin Strain
A Dossena - Groin Strain

+ Carra and Degen are suspended, leaves us with a very depleted squad.

So who do we play at right back then?

Mascherano? Then who do we play in midfield? Ok, Masch in MF. Then Darby? In a crunch match like this?

Will Agger be fit? If so, I presume he's going to partner the Big Greek. I'd almost rather see Ayala start. I assume we'll see Insua at left back.

In the midfield I presume it will be Kuyt, Masch, Lucas and Yossi with Ngog (if fit) and Voronin up front if Torres out. I'd rather see Babel start up front in a 4-4-2 but don't think that's going to happen. I'd also consider throwing Pacheco into the mix in a 4-5-1 with Ngog up front. No worse than whats below.

So:

-------------Reina------------

Darby---Kyriakos----Agger/Ayala---Insua

Kuyt----Mascherano---Lucas----Benayoun

--------Ngog-----Voronin/Babel-------

Imagine those Vs a fully match fit first eleven playing every week together (like Chelsea have had pretty much):

-------------------Reina---------------

Johnson----Carragher--Agger-----Aurelio

Kuyt----Mascherano----Aquilani----Benayoun

----------------Gerrard-------------------

----------------Torres--------------------

with Riera, Babel, Skrtel, Degen etc. on the bench.

You got to feel hard done by, especially when we are fighting for our lives. Our first 11 would beat the team we'll be forced to play about 9-0 Crystal Palace stylee.  :(   :(

yeah the injury list is very very silly. hopefully we get to see Pacheco and El Zhar stake their claims for regular football though.

Torres set to ignore the doctor's orders and could start against birmingham , gerrard could be on the bench as well. Is johnson out ?

                                   Reina

Johnson/Kelly        Skrtel           Agger             Aurelio

Kuyt                   Lucas           Aqualiani         Riera

                                   Yossi

                                   Torres

We don't need masch for a game like this , as long as we don't give away daft freekicks , we'll be okay. Birmingham are our bogey team and this will be a tough game , i'll go for a 1-0 , torres goal
