brentford v LIVERPOOL Mon 2nd Jan 5.30pm

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby ycsatbjywtbiastkamb » Sun Jan 01, 2023 4:17 pm

I know we’re not playing particularly well atm but by hook or by crook we are closing the gap on the teams above us and with Villa currently 2-0 up against Spurs, Arsenal and Newcastle playing each other on Tuesday and City away at Chelsea on Thursday this upcoming week is another good opportunity for us to make up some more ground.
Brentford particularly on their own patch are no mugs though so we’ll have to play better than we did on Friday.

Gotta say a win in our next game would deffo change my despondency regarding a top 4 finish.

As you say "Brentford are no Mugs"  , hard to believe a team of their stature has us concerned but fair play to them

This could be one of the most significant games in our season

Come on you Red Men  :buttrock

Feels like we are building a bit of momentum and a win against Brentford would move us to within touching of 4th.

I'm hoping we'll put together a winning run in January. And if we do I think we'll be a lot higher than 4th when we line up against the Chavs at Anfield on the 21st

Spurs and Chelsea dropped points so good chance for us to capitalise. Must keep the momentum going and get 3 points.

They are a team of big skillful players that press, they seem to give us trouble when we play them. I think Toney is out injured so that will help but we will need to work hard to win this one. There seems to be a positive mood at the club again so we need to build on that.

I wonder if Gakpo will get some minutes under his belt. Klopp usually does like the get a few training sessions in before he slots in new players.

Toney being out is undoubtedly a major plus for us, not saying Brentford are a one trick pony but they carry far less threat without him.

Brentford will be a handful and we have to score first but I have a feeling tonight Nunez will smash them in. 3-0, Nunez 2, Hendo 1.

Sky now reporting Toney could play tonight after avoiding serious injury against West Ham.

Klopp wasn't confident that Gakpo's registration would go through on time so he's unlikely to feature. Expect Konate to come in for Matip, Tsimikas for the injured Robertson, and Fabinho in for Henderson. Firmino, Milner, and Jones are back in training so have a chance of making the bench.

Hopefully they are bluffing about Toney and he misses out as he's on seriously good form. They are tough opposition under the lights.

You are spot on about them bluffing about Toney Eagle, he’s not even on the bench.

Urgh, what  horrible goal to concede. Scrappy as hell and went in off konate's shin
