BOLTON VS LIVERPOOL - 29/08/09 - 3pm

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Roger Red Hat » Thu Aug 27, 2009 12:58 pm

ok here goes...

If we win this game I reckon it'll be by at least 1 clear goal. I reckon one of our first XI will get it unless its an own goal then I'll put money one of Bolton's first XI scoring it.

However if a draw is all we can manage it'll probably be either 0-0, 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 or 5-5.

nothing but 3 points will do now, no i'm not pushing the panic button, but for me the result is more important than the performance on this occasion. as Bolton have struggled so far, this will be a game to really show our character,as they will try to snuff out the midfield,an stop our supply to torres etc.

we need to play with as much width as possible so yes i'd play rierra for this game if fully fit, an let the ball do the work ,especially if the game pans out with us counter attacking throughout the majority of the game.

weather that will be a good tactic to use i'm not sure,as i still believe that to play gerrard in a ridged midfield possistion, instead of his free role behind torres might be to Bolton's liking. let's just hope whatever game plan Raffa goes with, that the players show the character an determination away from home as they did last season. i have every confidence in the players, this game will get us back on track.                                 COME ON YOU MIGHTY REDS!

Don't even go there  :)

Seriously though, if we lose, OMO, things will get harder for us even at this early stage- confidence will be very low.

Hope Arsenal do the Mwanckers big time.

Quick question, if we lose and Chelsea win, are we out of it?

nope... not so early on, not to me... even if we do just as well as Chelsea do after a loss to Bolton, we still have a chance of reducing the gap to 3points if we beat them home and away like we did last season... how likely is it ? well about as likely as it was that the average fan would expect us to lose 3 out of our 4 starting games...

What we need to do is figure out what our best formation/lineup is for the time being... 3 points against Bolton are massively important but if we keep the Lucas-Mascherano pairing for this one and take the same lineup to our group of fixtures im pretty sure we'll be out of the title race before long...

This lot lost at home to Sunderland and away to Hull City.

If we dont win this we've got serious problems.

Not all that surprised.  No matter what many may wish, Rafa was always unlikely to drop Lucas.  Let's hope he and the rest of the lads really raise their game today.  Interesting to see Riera back in there in place of Yossi, though.  I like having the Spaniard back but feel a little sorry for Benayoun, who's not performed too poorly over the last couple games (without being at his best, IMO).  Still, I expect we'll see him as a sub sometime after the hour mark. :D Hopefully the big Greek enjoys a good debut.

So happy to see Riera going. I guess any player that we were trying for has gone down the pan so Riera is back in the frame. :D
