Substitutes: Ward, Johnson, Lambert, Henderson, Sturridge, Manquillo, Borini.

Sturridge on bench, Balotelli and Lovren not even on bench, Two changes only, Gerrard and Allen for Lucas and Henderson

Lucas Leiva ruled out tonight with a minor thigh problem but he's expected to be fit for the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

Good side, would prefer Hendo to Allen and sorry Lucas not fit but otherwise happy.

Looks like a Gerrard/Allen CM partnership, against a better side that could be asking for trouble.

Good lineup I'll be watching Allen I always thought he was a very talented player which got lost through injuries and confidence Crisis.

Bolton have 14 players injured, including two of their goalies. Absolutely have to win this, considering we're fielding a strong squad.

Poor in the final third as usual. Will probably need Sturridge to win against these. Refereeing has been pretty poor though, 2 nonexistent offsides, Sterling got clipped...

Maybe it is just me, but Allen looks so far of the quality required. He grafts, puts a shift in and suppose useful in the squad, but in terms of quality, he looks mid table at best. Just doesn't offer enough imo
