Liverpool Football Club - Games

Some might complain this thread is too early, but i am a firm believer in not dwelling on a setback. We are not going to get into the top 4 this season BUT we do have the chance of winning the FA cup and this must get 100% focus come wednesday night.

This is a massive game and certainly a game we are more than capable of winning.  Let us take out all our frustration of the past 2 matches on Blackburn and score a few goals and get into the semi final.

We know this.... Skrtel, Gerrard and Can are all banned for this match.  Lallana is recovering from injury but should be back, Balotelli declared himself injured for the Arsenal match with a knock to the knee.

If all players (bar those banned) are available, i would go with this 11...

                                 Mignolet

Johnson (yeh i know)   Lovren          Sakho

  Lallana         Henderson       Lucas         Moreno

                           Coutinho    Sterling

                                  Sturridge

Any thoughts on your 11's ??

Starting to wonder if we might be better off going with a back 4 here, seeing as we have so both Skrtel and Can banned for this one

This lineup. Diamond instead with Sterling playing the forwards.

I wouldn't play Sterling, I admired what Roberto Martinez did by leaving Lukaku out of the playing squad after his agent stuck the boot into Everton and with hindsight Brendan should have done the same thing after Sterlings unsanctioned interview last week.
I suppose it was a bit easier for Martinez in the sense that CL football (and tens of millions of pounds) weren't on the line against Southampton but never the less he showed strong leadership there.
Brendan should take the vice captaincy off Henderson and bench him as well.

Sterling should be dropped until he signs the new contract or be sold as soon as possible, he is a bad apple in LFC squad, and the useless and idiot BR should be sacked as well. He (BR) has in fact created Sterling saga by giving a break for two weeks which it had initiated this on going saga.
Sterling thinks he is a World beater, who can't score enough goals, can't cross, he is no near a CF and he wouldn't be one, he only has speed.

Sterling has scored a grand total of 6 league goals all season, considering he has been an ever present in the front 3 (including a decent spell at CF) that return is nothing to write home about.
He needs to do more than that if he wants the big wages.

Blackburn's main striker Gestede is having troubles and is to have a late fitness test, be great if he is out, he gave our defenders a real problem in first match

Why are people picking Johnson ahead of Manquillo? Why are people picking Johnson ahead of anyone!? I agree that we should change the formation however, though I'm not exactly sure to what we should change it. 4-4-2 is a no-go because Coutinho is wasted on the flank. I'd probably go with something like this.

                                           Mignolet

                      Manquillo  Lovren    Sakho  Moreno

                                            Lucas
                         Henderson                Lallana
                                         Coutinho

                            Balo/Sterling   Sturridge

No Balo?

3-4-3 presumably. With that line-up I wonder does he plan a switch to 4-3-3 if it's not working early on?

Confirmed? I would have thought Rodgers would be more likely to stick with 3 at the back with Hendo at RWB, but I do agree that 11 would work as a 4-3-3. Stick or shift??? The suspense is killing me!
