Wrong.

He specialised in physical and fitness work and was the fitness coach at Valencia.

But at Liverpool he initially was in charge of the entire training regime. He was the coach. Benitez took over the training and in doing do upset Ayerestan which led to his resignation.

"A specialist in sports science and player fitness, Ayestaran is known to have grown unhappy with Benitez taking a greater role in the training regimen, but the split remains a surprise due to the long-standing partnership forged by the two men."

The results speak for themselves whilst Ayerestan was at the club. The decline in performance and trophies has a distinct correlation with the absence of Paco Ayerestan.

Paco Ayerestan was a fantastic coach and our results on the pitch suffered following his departure. Don't get me wrong, i love Sammy, but he's not in the same league as Paco

For me, training is the most important thing. It is our job to make the players understand how important the training is and sometimes players come to me and say that they have trained too much and need to play. When they say this, you know they truly do not understand

quote from Paco....i can't help but think of Babel when i read this

I think the fans won his respect and vice versa .... it may seem trivial but its seems the current manager  is having a hard time winning anything remotely similar  ???

the one thing the manager is winnig that Rafa isnt at the moment is the most important though... and that's games.

Ge over the delusion that Rafa should come back or would do anything positive to the club. He gone

Hodgson isn't winning that many games Dawson so let's not get over confident and still be a bit cautious at the moment .

no, lets be happy that the last coupe of games we have improved, Hodgson has changed his tactics, and its starting to pay off. Meanwhile Rafa is doing his usual stubborn management style where if its broke, he aint fixing it and the players are starting to not want to play for him.

Thats how  see it, sorry if I'm not cautious and still want oldmanagers back like you, but I like how the club is going

Guess my standards are a bit higher than having the same amount of defeats as we have wins . So you be happy while I won't be happy as currently there isn't much to be happy about IMO
