Bollox they were. A few on here, me included, always backed those players. So what, they only get noticed now that Hodgson is in charge or something? Lucas has been his usual self this season no more than what he was last season. Same with Maxi and N'Gog. The only difference I can see is that N'Gog has scored a few more goals quicker, but he's obviously bound to improve like some of us thought he was going to.  Remember, a lot on here, and the media, were saying how Hodgson was left with a sh*te squad, and that we needed 11 or so players when the sh*t was hitting the fan. All of a sudden we get a few half decent home results and the tune has changed.

Don't know what your smoking son?

Lucas last season was absolutely poop. Nothing but a sideways passer. Yet this season he is playing the type of forward thinking passes that Gerrard would look for.

I think Lucas, Maxi and Babel are all confidence players who look for an arm round the shoulder from the manager. We all know Benitez was a hands off manager and showed no personal interest in players. Benitez was never the type of manager to put his arm round a player and offer encouragement, his style was more regimented. Gerrard himself has said this.

I think Hodgsons personal style with players alone has turned their performances round.

Don't mistake this for Hodgson love, purely an observation.

you dont seriously think Lucas's performances so far this season are of the same level as last do you ?

He has definitely improved a lot and the Chelsea man of the match performance was by a mile his best in a red shirt.

Hodgson came into a club that was in utter disarray. A club that was in such an awful state that very few individuals wanted the job as manager and now because RH hasn't sorted everything out overnight he is castigated as a total failure that should immediately be removed from the club. How these people regard themselves as supporters is beyond me. These same so-called fans were asking for RH to be sacked after four matches. They simply never gave him a chance.

For the record and those people that would actually like Rafa to return this was our away record during the last two seasons: 2009/10 = W5 D6 L8 2008/09 = W13 D4 L2. Benitez's away record in his final year was abysmal so why should we now be so shocked by what is happening now.Very easy to simply blame RH's poor overall away record when he was managing teams that were difficult to win at home with let alone away! There is slightly more to it than that and it has a lot to do with the state of the club when he arrived.

Good argument, in fairness this squad is not Hodgson's squad and he got the job when Liverpool was already struggling badly. Benitez was smart, he saw that his Liverpool squad had no future so he got his pay day & moved on leaving a mess in his wake.

We're not talking about Inter though.  Rafa built this squad and he knows how to use it better than anyone else, especially Torres.  I also don't think that he would have bought :censored: like Konchensky and Poulsen to the club.  Ciggy is right this season the league is much more open than last time around and we'd probably be in the top 4 right now.
