Can somebody tell me how much Spurs have spent in the last 2 years? Where the hell are they getting their wedge from season in season out, apart from gate receipts, when you consider that they've had no European football for donkeys years?

Spurs are about to become the new benchmark of a club that "shows ambition". When you consider that the previous benchmark was Newcastle though, it's not something to get worked up about.

I was just saying the same thing to a mate, where is all the money coming from ?
I think if you looked back over the last 2 seasons they must only be behind Chelsea, and possibly Newcastle with regards to spending money.
I think they are in danger of doing what Leeds did unless they qualify for next seasons Champions league.

Definitely a strange one, this spending power Spurs seem to magically have these days.  Just how much blood money did Chelsea agree to pay them over the Frank Arneson tapping up row?  Maybe more than we think.

Zakora and Berbatov are real quality players imo and it looks like they've almost signed Duff too who is another player I rate very, very highly.  I'm actually starting to take Spurs seriously for next season.  They're not Championship material and I can't see them finishing above us or Chelsea, but I can see them in a group with the scum and Arsenal scrapping for the CL places.

Surely if they don't get CL this season though, they will have to start selling off some of their assets.  They have a massive squad and some of their players are on big money, I can't see them sustaining it without CL money.

From what i can remember the fuss when Arneson got poached from Tottenham and ended up at Chelsea all went quiet very quickly, so it makes you wonder.

It also gives support to Bascombe's piece the other day that there seems to be a serious love triangle going on between Spurs, Chelsea and Pompey at the moment.

Portsmouth signed Mendes, Pamarrot and Davis from Spurs, and now they have Glen Johnson on loan from Chelsea. They have had bids of around £12M turned down for Defoe.

Now Duff is off to Spurs after they've already spent a fair bit on Berbatov.

Spurs have obviously been paid off by Chelsea to keep quiet about the Arneson affair - and Pompey are involved in it somewhere too.

It stinks to high heaven and i'm now convinced there's something going on. The Russian involved in Pompey is obviously dancing to Abramovichs' tune.

Daniel Levy the Spurs chairman, is minted he is the managind director of ENIC plc a entertainment, sports, and media group, got his fingers in many pies.

Thats why they have so much money, the max they got off chelski was £10m that would not be enough for the 35 midfielders they have on their books

Not sure if we will win it but...

BET OF THE SEASON

Liverpool points total over 76pts - 11-8 with Coral

I have just waded into that one and hope to pick up my wedge at the end of the season.

I don't care. I just hope that we don't lose a single game in premiership.

I would love to see ManU and Chelsea relegated with 50 points deducted after this season because of match-fixing charge. :;):

At this moment...with the squad we have, i can safely say we will at least finish 3rd (and that is being very pessimistic).

But we do sign alves & anelka (or trezeguet)....then we should be the champs (both premier league and champions league)  :buttrock

From being pessimistic you go to insanely optimistic....

How can you say we should win the Prem and the Champs League?!

We all know the keys for us next season:

1) A great start
2) Taking plenty of points off of our main rivals
3) Staying relatively injury free (esp. our big guns)

If we can get these three things, we'll certainly push Chelsea all the way for the title.

All things being equal, though, I think it'll come down to pyschology (as JMac and Big Mick suggested).  We have a young, hungry squad who have learned to stay focused and dig deep to get big results over the last two seasons.  If we can stoke that fire even more--particularly by really putting teams to the sword this season and winning comfortably a lot of the time--momentum will build and we'll have a shot of knocking Chelsea off their perch.

The nice thing is that the pressure is all on Chelsea to sweep all before them once again.  Should they stumble--and, in Chelsea's case, a "stumble" often includes winning 1-0 or playing boring football because of the media glare--they might lose their bottle.  Remember, Chelsea have not really been pressed in the league the last two seasons and when they have been pressed in cup comps they've performed poorly (they were abject at Barcelona last winter and Mourinho lost the plot against us in the FA Cup Semi).  Perhaps success has come a bit too easily for them and they might not have it in them (as a squad of pampered millionaires) to fight for it when the chips are down.  Plus, if things start to go pear shaped at the Bridge, expect the finger-pointing and in-fighting to begin.

Point is, pressure's on them, not us and if our lads can put them under pressure all season, we'll be in a great position to nick the title come May! :buttrock

I think we'll win this season, we've been getting closer to Chavski and this season we have 3 points that will make gap that last step:

1) Reinforcements
2) Not having to go to Japan and have to recover those games later on wednesdays
3) Not having to make a preseason thinking on qualifying for the CL.

Rafa is a league specialist. He'll do it. You can remember I say this.
