the whole squad should be kept with the exception of biscan, diao, traore, smicer and possibly diouf (if we get a substantial bid for him). we don't need a major clearout at all.

Smicer is a useful squad player and should be kept.

Traore is another player i'd keep.

I'd have no problems seeing Diouf, Daio, Smicer, Biscan, Cheyrou and traore go as long as we replace them with quality players......... Sadly the above have not exactly set the prem alight so won't command huge transfer fees. Unfortunately at liverpol we have made a habit of paying over the odds for what have proved to be ordinary players....

As soon as the new manager comes in and it hits July 1st, the players need to watch their backs. 

I wonder if it is going to be a similar scenario of when Houllier came to the club and he gave every single player a chance before deciding who he wanted to keep and who he wanted to sell.

I hope the new manager kicks a.r.s.e.  I can't go through another season like last.

Kewell, Gerrard, Owen, Hyypia, Riise, Finnan, Kirkland, Dudek, Baros, Murphy, Hamann, Smicer, Pongolle, Le Tallec, Henchoz and Carragher.

There's enough reasons to be opimistic.

Lets hope the new manager realises just what he has at his disposal and adds the right players.

In Kewell, Owen, Gerrard and Hyypia we have four of the leagues best players to build a side around.

We all know there is a fantastic nucleus of players at the club. In fact it is because we all knew it so well that Houllier was asked to leave. I imagine we will lose 3/4 and gain 3/4 players during the off-season. The new manager will not need to make wholesale changes.

For me, i would see Diao, Diouff and Biscan out the door for definite. Traore and Smicer? I don't really mind if they stay or go. They are both squad players capable of improving under a new manager. Same with Cheyrou, if he can stay injury free then i would not complain if the new man gives him a run out but ultimately i would expect him to remain only as a squad player.

I do worry we may lose Milan which would be a big mistake. I could see him going elsewhere and scoring a hatfull of goals. I hope he stays as 3rd striker.

I think Baros will be one of the stars of Euro 2004 and will hopefully impress the new manager enough to keep him. He's a player that really scares defenders because of his direct running.

i agree with that.

he's got 10 goals in 21 appearance for the czech republic for gods sake. that's a better goals per game ratio than owen. i just hope that if cisse doesn't provide the goods that baros gets a run in the side. cisse shouldn't merit a place in the side every weak just because of his price tag.

I feel this guy has been mismanaged by our previous leader, he is intelligent, quick and a handful if trained and played in the right position, probably get slated, but that is my opinion.
