What did use think of kewell's comeback?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

For Chr1stsake I thought I was on the Manure forum reading some of these posts, If it's not Cisse getting stick it's Kewell, Kewell done more in twenty minutes last night than that waster Garcia done in 90. No mention of the nutmeg through ball to Momo? it could of easily been a goal but their keeper made a good save. What if Momo had of scored from that ball, would Kewell be getting as much stick today? No!! Either way he did the work and more importantly he looked eager to play.

Speaking of Garcia, I was actually embarrased that he was on the pitch last night, some of my mates are manure and Villa fans and i'm always getting into arguements over Liverpool and defending the players down to the last breath, but there was nothing to be said for Garcia last night, absolutely terrible, the problem is though people on here slating Kewell who's been injured and Cisse who's been scoring and then saying Garcia is a good player, give me a break. He's way too inconsistant for my liking. :no

Kewell can't really be judged on last night.  Benitez shouldn't have played him to be honest.  He's about a stone overweight right now and needs at least a month of reserve team football if you ask me.

He was a class player a few years back, including his first 6 months with us (people forget that).  He had tremendous technique at his peak and he won't have lost that.  He'll probably have lost a bit of pace but I reckon once fully fit he can still be a class player for us.

The question isn't whether he'll get fit and find some form, because I'm positive he will.  The question is how long it will last before he's crocked again.  He's an injury prone player, as were Anderton and Redknapp, he's headed down the same route as them unfortunately.

Peope didn't bash Redknapp and say he was lazy when he was injured, but just because Kewell's on 65 grand a week people criticise him.  Blame the board for forking out the wages, not Kewell, he could have earned more at Manure or abroad but he chose to play for us.

As for people claiming he's faked injury and not tried etc, I'm not having any of that.  If you're injured, you're injured.  Getting on the lad's back will do no good, people need to start supporting him a bit more.

I thought Kewell did OK to be totally honest. I thought the one on one with that Traore bloke summed it up. Kewell did him with a bit of a body swerve but the sharpness wasn't there so by the time he pulled the trigger the fella had got back to block. Similarly, the shot from Garcia which was parried into what could have been his path caught him on his heels, lacking sharpness again. Those that think he was just too lazy to run in are wide of the mark here I think.
Clearly kewell wants to be a success, I'm not convinced he will be but it would be unwise to come to any conclusions based on a 20 minute cameo from a player returning from a long-term injury. If you are saying he'll never make it at Liverpool, you may well be correct but this is an opinion based on what you have seen before last night, not on those twenty minutes. If that was his debut for the club, everybody would be sitting here saying "yeah not bad. Just wait till he settles in".

Harry should have been given away for free to the first away fan that turned up at our ground at the start of the year, he would fit in well in a sunday pub team

I wouldn't be his greatest fan! I've never seen him play as well for Liverpool, as he did, week-in, week-out, for Leeds!! But I thought he did ok for the 20 mins he played last night. Could have done better to get to the rebound from Garcia's shot, but had some nice touches and looked class when he turned the defender and created room for a shot later on....
I'm inclined to give him 10 games and see then. He was pure class for Leeds, but had a lot of injuries with us! Give him the opportunity to rediscover his form.....

little mick  :D , i mean mick

kewell had a chance to pick up a loose ball off a rebound from their keeper, after a garcia shot, but instead he stood there with his finger up his arse as usual, as you point out.

I know his fitness is not 100%, but his mind should be though, but it rarely got out of 2nd gear. imo. he should be at the very least trying to read the game, and get stuck in. its not difficult to want that from your player is it? be honest mick

Actually Mick he was busy whining to Garcia because he did not pass him the ball (which Garcia should have done). They seemed to have an argument about it after the game.

Seriously I do not believe he likes playing football anymore, which will be a shame for him. Nothing worse than wasting talent.

Kewell is a lost case...Its a matter of cutting your loses....
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

If ever one period of a match displayed the honour, commitment and pride of a footballer it was the period of time skippy the gutless dingo spent on that field in Istanbul. He will never amount to anything as long as he's at Anfield.

£60k a week, and they call us thieves!! It still hurts me to see him put that hallowed number 7 on that spineless back!!
