Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Calm people ,all is not lost. Owen has said himself that he wants to be at Liverpool ahead of Newcastle. If we make a bid for him of say around 10 million, then Owen will want to come to us. However, Real Madrid could say "we are accepting the Newcastle offer and not Liverpool's, so you either go there or sit on the bench and jeopardise your WC spot cos you're not going to play at all"

Rafa won't be too blame if he signs for 18 million for Newcaslte, as we don't have that sort of money. If Rafa wants him it's up to the board to provide the funds, but I doubt we will that sort of money tbh, as we only sold him for 8mil.

Exactly the Baros situation is a good example. Real wil be forced to sell to liverpool for cut price cos MO will not accept personal terms with NC. Real dont want to be left paying £120,000 a week for a player they wont use or in this case havent even fuly paid for.

I don't know mate, Real Madrid are pretty stubborn and if they lose a few million beacuse of their stubbornness they won't care too much tbh, as they have plenty more money where that came from.

If Newcastle have offered a club record, I think we're :censored: tbh, unless Moores is willing to majorly dip into his own pocket.  If Real Madrid reject our offer and accept Newcastle's then MO will be a Newcastle player, as he isn't going to sit on the bench all season at Real.

if owen goes to newcastle it will only be on loan for a year.

i can't see him signing for them considering the state their club is in. if he wants silverware, they're the last club he's gonna go to, however much their willing to pay him.

if newcastle are willing to pay a club record for him though, you're looking at £35m in transfer fees and wages over 5 years. :O

He doenst want to play for newcastle. No body does for that matter. But there the only team with funds however MO has in his heart us to play for and that could the deciding factor. If there was ever a time for MO to repay his debts to Liverpool for behaving the way he did last summer its now. He need to firmly reject any offers from Newcastle and ignore threats to remain on the bench at Real. Real are only bluffing becasue they will not firk out 5 Mil a year in wages for him just to sit on the bench. It was the same with Figo. In the end he did leave on a  free. Its obvious Liverpool didnt get what they deserved for MO last year but there doind the clever thing and holding out until the end becasue Rafa has other targets in the pipeline.

If Owen ends up rotting on the Real bench until January or going to Newcastle (although I doubt he'd go there), then he has only himself to blame for letting his Liverpool contract run down a year ago and leaving us on the cheap chasing the dream.

I'm sick hearing how he's 'desperate' to return and all these fans sympathising and keeping up the 'bring mikey home' campaign.  Fu.ck him, he had his chance to stay and experience life under Rafa and he blew it.  And another thing, if this wasn't a world cup year do you think he'd be so 'desperate' to return to us??  No way, he'd be content to sit on the bench over there.  He's trying to use us now to make sure he starts at the world cup, just like he used us a year ago by letting his contract run so he'd get his 'big move abroad'.

I accept our current strikers are misfiring, but I'd sooner give them until January to prove themselves or even bring in someone like Kuyt before I'd take back Owen

Disagree st mick, if Real Madrid refuse to let him go to Liverpool (which is quite conceivable as I can't see us willing to pay the amount Newcastle are going to pay), then Owen is hardly going to sit on the bench at Rela the whole season and jeopardise his World cup spot is he? He has stated he wants first team football and Newcaslte can give it to him.

Id love Owen back but look at it this way,Face it if we match Newcastles bid this is technically the worlds worst loan signing, its as if we have paid real madrid 8 million pound to take him off us for a year, 2004 sell owen for 8 million 2005 buy him back for 16 million, its a joke. How can you lose respect for Rafa as well Lee J when owen shat all over him last year and now starts whinging like a fu*kin baby cos he cant get a game at Real, now you expect Rafa to save his bacon, Put ye self if Rafas shoes mate. Its alright Owen wanting to come back now, he should have should true loyalty when it really mattered and it looked as though we was in the sh!t.

I can't see us offering anymore than £10m for Owen and we would never be able to pay anywhere near £100k a week wages :(

It is all up to Michael now to show how much he wants to return to Anfield.

owen is a bad influence, the reason he was let go was the fact that he thought he was  the boss.He was too good to talk to the lesser players, not helping then like he should have done. Now he has blown his chance,it seems strange that no other club not even Birmingham have wanted him.Any manager has to have complete control or else players like Owen upset the ship.Owen is just a spoilt brat,he might be good but no player is bigger then the team

bbc are say it is a done deal.
sorry you lot but i have got to say that i feel let down by RB, All of the liverpool fc wanted him back at the club apart form RB, i dont think RB like being told what to do, looks like we are stuck with strikers that can not score goals in the prem.
Newcastle United have met Real Madrid's asking price and conditions."
