The imminent squad reshuffle... - ...thoughts?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Having slagged off his initial signing, I actually quite like Riera. I think he's capable of a lot better than he's shown so far, and I'd like to see him encouraged to come in off his wing and crack it a bit more. Another facet of his play which is under-utilized is his heading ability. Get him in the box when the balls out on the right flank. He's good in the air and can score from the back post I should think.

I know he didn't get on with the previous manager, but he was hardly on his own lets be honest so I wouldn't hold that against him just to spite our face.

Didn't he slap around Pacheco in training a few times? Im sure that's why Rafa began benching him in the first place. I suppose if that that can be ironed out then fine, he is a decent player but inconsistent.

the doom on here is unreal. Tony Evans is a :censored:wit. Gerrard and Torres are not going to leave Liverpool Football Club this season.

Mascherano is gone. IMO. 25m is not enough. If Citeh have paid 27m for yaya then barca must stump up the 30m for Masch. He's younger, better and that team of theirs is cryying out for steel just now. They dont get it then there lovely patterns of play are gonna become more and more like arsenals.

Just a real stab in the dark. If Torres did go to Citeh for 60m etc. Would you take a couple of fringe players off them. I mentioned earlier about Bridge, Richards, Johnson, Onoha, Ireland. What about adding Viera as a stop gap to fill mascherano void. He's mobile enough still. Started to have a real influence on midfield towards end of season.

Just a thought like. Hammann wasnt so mobile yet was very very efficient.

So is it going back to the old rumours of players not getting on with manager , a rumour which has so far to be proven to be utter sh.te . As for reira it's no surprise he has fallen out wih every manager he has played for and has been relegated to a reserve team on a number of occassions as well as slapping a youth player

Riera is so unbelievably hot and cold. When he is good, he is verrrry verrry good. When he is bad, he is complete w@nk.

Boo I'd take some of Man City's players definately. I've long said Steven Ireland would be my number one target if I were the manager, and I really like the lad Onoha or whatever the feck his name is at the back. Micah Richards is turn roundable IMHO, and cheap I'd take a chance of Roque Santa Cruz as well.

I wouldn't have Bridge though, and I wouldn't have Viera either.

Sky Sports are reporting that Roy is primarily interested in British buys.

He's linked with Young, who I think we have no chance of getting going on Martin O'Neills form and Steven Taylor.

Who do you think is good enough then?

I'd go for Cahill and Muamba from Bolton. (Muamba did a good man to man job on Gerard last season).
And I'd have any of Ireland, Onuhua, Richards and Johnson from City.
Scott Parker off West Ham.

Who else is out there?

Ashley Young, No thanks. Over priced and Overrated!

Onouha, Scott Parker, Richards are good options.

Would Onouha leave a club on the way up ? same with Richards

Parker left Newcastle because he wanted to be back down south

we should be getting dutch and german players. Players who have good attitudes and be trained since a young age to be winners. Scneijder would be perfect for this club

You think?

Yeah that Ozil seems a handy player too. Maybe we can get to him on the quiet like.  :D

i would take all 4 of the City players though i doubt they will be sold as the rules about playing British lads do apply to them too.

Well leaving aside the inevitable "but he/they wouldn't come to us" posts, there are some good suggestions for new players. Much obviously depends on any funding we have available, and while everyone can have a guess I think it's safe to assume there won't be a lot. I remember suggesting Robert Earnshaw many years in a thread which asked who you would get if we had no money, but undeterred by the fact that nobody ever forgot it I'll have another stab.

If we had absolutely no money whatsoever, I'd take Benjani from Man City as he is different class to N'Gog and would provide cover for Torres. I'd also have a good look at Sol Campbell. If we have got a few quid, I'd buy Steven Ireland off of Man City, and Onoha.

The key is though Bav, when you back someone on an internet forum who you think will do a really good job but then history proves you to be totally and absolutely wrong, you have no option but to just admit you were wrong and move on. That's always been my philosophy anyway.
