Steven gerrad unworthy captain

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby jedwards » Sun Feb 27, 2005 8:23 pm

On Today’s display it would indicate and also confirm that S.G. should no long be LFC Captain, the player was totally out fought, out played, of his position on the pitch, his display is hardly worth the captain armband or a mention, and on top of that his after match comments was out of order, as he has given all credit to his future football club, rather than looking well at himself, it was only for his back header in a defensive situation!!!!!!, Chelsea wouldn’t be in the game!!! .  In normal defending situation against set piece you were taught to head the ball forward and away from goal, but this big international player has opted to do otherwise, and take the advantage away from his team and hand it over to the opposition, this is the same player who during the week had criticized his club and team mates as no hopers!, well I can say if LFC has a captain like S.G. who lead their team, would for sure achieve nothing. This player’s heart and mind is somewhere else, his form has been on decline for sometime now, although his display for England team just few weeks ago was very good, but when turned out to play for LFC against Birmingham was totally the opposite, and bear in mind that LFC pays his wages!!!.

It is time he should pack his bag and go, because his presence in team is just a liability rather than and advantage.  A captain of any team who has a very negative attitude as the likes of S.G., would not take the club forward, he thinks that his presence in team is doing a big favour for LFC, well he is totally wrong to think that, as LFC had produced top class captains that even S.G. would love to clean their boots until now, he is also wrong to think that he is much bigger than LFC.

This is an important time for the Chairman and Board of Directors of LFC to think what is the best for the club, we all know the there is a big need for injection of investments and fund raising is required very quickly to improve the squad with top good players who are committed to play for and only LFC. The past regime of the dull G.H. have had harmed the club great deal, with the help of the LFC’s Chairman, who should had acted a season or two ago to get rid of G.H, because his long presence had spoiled the likes of Owen, Gerrard, and others.

The thing that ****** me off most was both Carra and Riise were MILES better placed to head the ball clear and BOTH CLEARLY called for the ball... YET "i've got to do everything myself because i'm a god and can stroll around doing ****** all because i know i'm so great and all the fans love me", thought he knew best AGAIN!! when he CLEARLY didn't and scored a brilliant goal for his new team.

Bennet and Gerrard were amazing for Chelsea today. They'll definately be challengers again next season.

True, Gerrard was not his usual dominating self today. I think after the miss in the second half and then the own goal he let his head go down. After the speculation about his transfer that has been going on since last summer and the media cr@p about him v Lampard i dont blame him for losing his concentration a bit.
His head is clearly somewhere else but the lad looked inconsolable after the final whistle - i felt for him and you could tell he knew he had let the club down a little.
He is still our best player and still a great captain. We will only have him for a few more months - lets give him the respect he deserves until he leaves.

Sorry to say it but running round like a headless chicken and making rash tackles and shooting from idiotic range's when people are in a better position to score is not how to lift a team , and that is exactly what SG does everytime we are struggling and usually when we look dire and in a real bad way he actually contributes to it.Now when we are playing as a team he is awsome and when he can play his game with not having to worry about everyone else he is Awsome .Take the captaincy of him now and let him play his game without having to think he has to carry the whole team then he can show the world he really is the best at what he does.until then i think he will just become a liabilty more often than not .A great player who just cant handle the weight of the whole team on his shoulder's .
This is just my veiw and opinion and i know most people will disagree.

I would agreed had he not been involved with Chelsea during the summer but the most obivious reason is that he knows he's leaving and he doesn't want to burn himself out for his future team.

The funny thing with Stevie G is, he is the captain and theres certainly no chance of him being dropped cause he is the first name on the teamsheet every match when fit.

Even Rick parry is saying he is the future of LFC.

But every single fan knows he is gonna do a bunk in the summer, maybe if we scrape into the top four. But definately if we dont make it. His body language says it all.

Do we really want someone as captain who is gonna do the same traitor escapade as Owen?
He's definately going in my book. If i was Rafa, I'd pull stevie into my office and say, "look mate pull yer socks up, or your gonna be dropped"

i'd give the armband to hyppia or Carra personally.

The problem for Raffa is this, If  Gerrad is definatley off in the summer  then if Raffa takes the armband off him then his price will drop and the vultures hanging around will offer alot less than 30 or 40 million that we are  all hoping for. Yes if we all believe he is off in the summer  then its best not to take the armband......cynical yes  but reality , if he is planning on staying then give the armband to Jamie or Sami .
Raffa needs to get Sg in the office and ask him straight out ..." do you want to leave Liverpool fc ? " .....if he doesnt then take the responsibilty off him and let him play .
Personally i believe he is off in the summer, i never used to think he would wahtr with being a supporter since he was a baby etc, but these past couple of months have really changed my view as to what he is going to do

What do you mean he had a bad game, he has played bad in every game against Chelsea this season, in the second half he hardly even put a tackle, I wouldn't sl3g him off if he tried against Chelsea but he didn't look ar5ed, it's a good job Didi and Biscan were on the field, ever Garcia put himself about more than Gerrard

Their was only one captain playing yesterday and that was Carra!!!  :;):
