again very productive Neil, you could have done the right thing there and admitted you were in the wrong but it appears you have the ego the size of a planet but the brain the size of a malteser

This is all games played in the glaring lights of the media.  I admit its not what I really like, but the over reaction on this forum is amazing. Lets just see what happens on Sunday.

People who are old enough will remember how Bob Paisley would always talk up the opposition and even after we had given a team a good thrashing he would say how unlucky they were.  Now Roy doesnt do it in as much style as Bob (nobody could) but it worked.

As Pepe has been saying in the press today, get off Roys back and give him your support.. its kind of our job, as supporters!

He's not Paisley though is here fella ...not by any wildest stretch of the imagination is he in any respect similar .... neither should his name be  used in the same sentence with such a humble gentleman ,and without doubt the most successful manager in Liverpool's glorious history  ............. seriously if you want your posts to have a grain of credibility ,stop using absolute legends to compare with the current incumbent ....we will support the team Lad but as for Hodgson he's on his own ....

get over yourself RBG.

He made a good point and who are you to say 'dont use the 2 names in the same sentence?'  the word police?

lee, seriously though - i dont believe roy is the man to take us forward at all...it would take a miracle for him to deliver cl football and the holy grail

if he does, i will bow down to him, as everyone deserves a chance of redemption, bit imo i dont see that happening

perhaps my words were strong, but in essence i am correct

I'm also dissapointed with the interview, it is way to negative and that is never good, becuase it's unfair on the fans.

Roy is talking as if he is still managing a small team like Fulham, when you manage LFC you should give interviews with an air of superiority whilst still being respectfull.
The current results don't matter we are still, and always will be, a top team!

His skills seem better suited to turning the underdog into a force to be reckoned with, but I believe he can balance that up here by working miracles with a genuine top 4 contender. True, he has displayed a certain level of tactical nous over the opening half of his tenure, but of late he is starting to get it right on and off the pitch. I have first hand knowledge of what it was like to deal with our previous owners - and I would say that the chaos they were causing behind the scenes when he arrived MUST have had a detrimental effect to all those around. It is no coincidence that now a new broom is sweeping through so the results and the on field performances are improving. Give him more time and watch what he does in January. If we are still falling away come February fell free to find this post and slag me off.

When, and against who? Don't say West Ham or Blackburn, please, and I think Chelsea's form is showing of late. I'll give it until the next away game for everyone to be brought back down to earth....again.

Jesus Emerald what you are saying there is lets forget about anything good the team do and only focus on the bad. Have we been terrible away from home? You bet your a*s we have but out home form has picked up in the last few matches and that is a start. Getting the Anfield performances raised was the top priority after our horrific start to the season so we've done that now the next step is getting our form sorted on the road.

I know you're gonna state that his record suggests he's not going to be able to do that but hes at Liverpool now, has a better calibre of player and slowly seems to be coming to terms with what is expected of him. We may lose this weekend, in fairness we could have any manager in the world at the helm and if Spurs click at the Lane we could still come away with a hiding. Lets see what kind of performance we can deliver and hopefully we can take a few positives from it going into a very winnable run of games in December

I'm just looking at the overall picture. Usually a new manager comes in, he takes stock of what he has and after a few games or so, you can see the direction he wants to take the team in. His own brand of football, and his methods become evident, especially if you've come off the back of a season where things were terrible, but not wholly broken. We'd still a strong side with a strong philosophy at it's core. A few positions were so poor that it it was breaking the team, that and a manager that was under extreme pressure in untenable circumstances. What makes or breaks a new manager coming in is the first few signings he makes. He bought extremely poorly, with dealings the likes of which I've not seen since Souness. Add to that, we started actually playing worse, a lot worse, with no real signs of improvement coming from anywhere save for the shoddy displays from teams like West Ham and Blackburn at home, then it's a bit hard to look to the bright side. We're not looking to batter teams and make them capitulate to us through tactics and our new brand of football, rather we're looking for a hand out and a p*ss poor performance for the opposition so that we may scrape a draw, or that the bits of individual quality we do have in our side somehow manages to produce something for us to steal a lucky result a'la the Bolton game where Torres produced a moment of brilliance to back-heel nutmeg someone to put Maxi in.

I am gutted that he has not come out and said:
"Arry is a wa'nker. His team is sh'ite, especially Bale. Van der Vaart should be called Van der Faart coz he stinks. Crouch is a plank and the rest are diarrohea and we will fu'ck them 6-0!"
Whats wrong with the man? Every other manager in the prem slags off the opposition and says how sh'ite they are compared to their own team. I have seen scotch hole say many a time publicly that his team will give the opposition a Fu*king good hiding because theyre ca'ck.

We are a top team ,you stupid auld f,ucker !!!

Why not say we are going to tottenham for the three points ,nothing less, no cake walk for spurs my a.rse . We are Liverpool fc for f.ucks sake .

If we keep Torres and n,gog fit we may spring a suprise . It will be no suprise to spurs that we will be going there sh1tting ourselves you senile old tw,at.

Once again we are a top team , we certainly aren't the LFC of old under your management .

I remember when we used to beat the European champions ,and no it's them that are playing the mugs now , us thanks to you you defeatist c.unt .

Away victories are 3points like home victories , why not look at it that way instead of keeping our expectations low so we expect and accept away defeats you sorry excuse for a manager .

We may get one or two away wins , are you for f,uckin real , go draw your pwension and let someone who knows what they are doing take charge .

We are the unluckiest team to have you as manager . Grow a pair of ball for gods sake .

F.uck off about stoke , we played :censored: . You seen , we seen it , every c.unt seen it . That's why we booed you off you stupid ald t1t.

Within FOUR post's this guy has nailed it on the Head!

For all of you Appeaser's, for those Liberals amongst you, read this post Again, and then give difinitive answer's to this Guy's Argument............ The OLD, It's the Liverpool Way, He's The Manager and Should be Supported Argument's aside, give difinitive Argument's WHY a Manager that has won 13 Away Games in 30 yrs of English Football Management should be supported and excuses given?

Again i say don't just trot out the usual diatribe.

Why do the Liberals and Appeaser's amongst you KEEP on making excuses for him after yet Another Shambolic, Defeatest Press Conference, you'd think we were gonna play Barcelona at the weekend with the under 16's!

Don't trot out Rafa, he's gone, history, this is ALL about Roy, His Team Now and a damn sight better players than he's had before and his total inability to Manage LFC!

What's it gonna take for you to understand that this job of Managing LFC is TOO BIG for him?

What's it gonna take for you to Finally understand that with him in charge of this Football Club we are Accepting Mediocrity?

When are you ever, ever gonna Learn that Beating Chelsea at Home after playing "Football" for forty five minutes is not going to excuse the "Manager" from "Bottling" it every time we play away from Anfield!

When are you ever gonna learn that this Season will be one step Forward at Anfield, yet one/two steps backward away from home, all leading to where this Manager is Best Suited, Mid Table Mediocrity!

If this is what you want from LFC Mid Table Mediocrity, then carry on with your rear view mirror of life.

It's the typical Liberal view on life, "It's All the other guy's fault", it's probably Roy's view on life at Anfield, he's as much as said so, protecting his grand 35 Yr Managerial record, whilst polishing his LMA Trophey, but for me it's NOT GOOD ENOUGH, and neither is he!

There's even been people talking of Bob and his Press Conferences in this thread, they must have a FAR better Memory than me, Bob hardly ever gave one, would shy away from them if he could, would never give one voluntarlily, and had a healthy disrespect for the press, so how anyone can say he said this and that re forthcoming opponents astounds me.

The only thing i've ever heard about Bob's Team Talk's to the Team have come from ex Players, they're well recounted, "Just Play your normal Game and let them worry about US", is the jist of thing's!

That's why people like RBG say don't mention the present incumbent in the same breath as the Great Bob Paisley!

The point of my Diatribe is this, there's no use in Beating Chelsea, if you cant win an AWAY GAME, you only get the the same three points, WE could go on and beat Man U, Tottenham, Man City, Villa, etc, at Anfield, but if your gonna be top FOUR, Champions League, then you HAVE to win away from home, and i'm sorry Appeaser's/Liberals, THIS MANAGER AIN'T GOT IT IN HIM TO WIN AWAY FROM HOME!,

It's a WELL proven fact, statistics Don't Lie, and for that reason aswell as many other's i say wind your neck's in, stop supporting the unsupportable, cos the sooner this loser is out of the Club the better!

He's probably being too honest because it's true that Spurs have massively improved under Redknapp, and it's true that we've been sh1t for quite a while - especially away from home. In the past we would have seen the manager guarantee fourth place and the like, but with Roy we see a different approach. Like most on here, I would prefer to hear a more upbeat message coming from the manager because I see LFC as a huge club and I want to believe that the team can live up those expectations. That has to tempered with a certain amount of realism, though, but perhaps not to the extent Roy's done here. That said, his comments are no basis for judging his performance as manager. They merely provide an insight into his mindset and point to what might be an actual weakness in terms of his ability to motivate the team. But since they don't represent the full extent of his interaction with his players, you'd be a fool to conclude too much from it.

On a different note, why aren't people still having a go at T&T for the squad they left Roy? Or fecking Parry/Purslow for making all of our dodgy signings/missing out on every world class player you can think of?

Did Roy not inherit the squad that was subject to T&T's spending constraints?

Very strange all of this.

Can we all just agree that Rafa had had his time, T&T were the main exit we needed and Purslow was needed to go.

Now just for the icing on the cake and the total clear out and we can have a fresh start

Woy out!!

Sorry, but His Comment's Are THE VERY BASIS for Judging him as a Manager!

They Are In Poor Judgment at Best, Defeatest on the Whole, Chr1st every Premiership Manager must be rubbing their hands in glee at the propect of us playing them at their place, here we go they'll say We're playing the Surrender Monkey's this week, "What give's you that idea"?, I Don't know maybe it's Roy's mindset!

If as you suspect he can't motivate the team, then as Shank's once said, he's a Bl00dy Menace he should go and be an MP!

I actually wonder myself what the full extent of his interaction with the Players is, whatever it is, it is patently NOT working, i put it to you that you'd have to be a FOOL to conclude otherwise!

Na, it's just Benitez taking all the stick for all the poor performances and the draws and defeats. Nothing to do with those two.

I've not heard or read this latest interview either. From the sounds of it, it's par for the course.

Exactly. To be a good leader usually means you're a good speaker. It's a good job Roy wasn't born Russian under Stalin's reign, otherwise he'd have been shot for being a traitor already.
