I'd like to see a midfielder busting a lung to get in the box

Firstly I'd like to see him play Agger instead of Skyrtel. Defensively they are close, but as footballers the Dane is a much better player.

I'd like him not to play two defensive midfielders in the same match. Lucas has to go, because quite simply he is awful. At the moment he isn't even playing well by his own standards, and it's painful to watch.

I'd like to see Steven Gerrard played in central midfield, because we need him there.

Ideally I'd prefer it if we didn't play Maxi Rodriguez, he isn't up to it I'm afrraid.

I'd like it if we can try and get a little bit of pace into the team out wide. If we are going to play Kuyt or Jovanovic, lets get someone with a bit of pace on the other flank.

I'd like to see us hunt the ball much higher up the pitch.

When we do attack I'd like to see us commit more men forward.

Whoever plays up top either in behind or with Torres, I'd like to see them get much closer to him.

I'd like us to play with more energy and at a higher tempo, as we did against Arsenal when we were down to 10 men.

Pretty much echoes my thoughts in terms of how i'd like us to play. Get the balance right, get us further up the pitch (doesn't have to miles higher), a bit of pace and trickery needed on the flanks and some much needed tempo to our passing game.

So would I mate, but in fairness we haven't seen that for years except when Gerrard plays there. Lucas and masherano didn't do it, Alonso and Sissoko didn't do it. We have been a defensive team for a long time, and I really do believe that half of the problem is that it's only now that people are actually opening their eyes to it.

Don't some of these people remember getting spanked 2-0 at Pompey last season, drawing 0-0 at Hull where we barely had a shot, and even winning 1-0 at Villa with a last minute goal after they'd played us off the park? We haven't suddenly become defensive, we haven't suddenly started playing two holding midfielders, it's been going on for ages.

I'd love it too if Roy could just sort it instantly. I'm even a little disappointed that we haven't improved our play quicker, but at least I think he knows we need to change, which is something.

Watching Liverpool play is akin to watching paint dry. We have been defensive a long time. The one time we weren't is when rafa had a contract to win. Once that was in the bag it was back to same ole, same ole. As far as the critics go, for me, if you blame roy for our style of play then you have every right to thank rafa for that also. He did, after all, mould this team into how he wanted us to play.

Dear Roy,

Sunday was Sh..TE!, we've all been watching our Club long enough as well to know it wasn't an entertaining 0-0 draw, I for one was bored sh.tless tearing my hair out and not looking forward to the M6 Car Park on the way home, to say you weren't disappointed with this result after the Match does nothing for our confidence in you, and although Birmingham have a good home record, haven't been beaten in a year, they where there for the taking if ONLY you'd picked the right team!

Haven't yet fathomed out whether your a good Manager, a bad Manager, the Job's too big for you or you're being governed by the day to day shenanigans of twit & tw@t.

Your record state's your not bad, not great, but.......... lets face it all we could afford, you come to Anfield with a Managers record comparible with Boy Evans at the end of his tenure, Won a few minor league's, but the big Trophey's have eluded you. (Before the happy clappers get their teeth into this, Our '70's reserve Team would've p.ssed the Swedish Championship)

Which brings me on to my point, you've said all the right things since joining the Club, in a way settled an unsteady ship, told our TV Channel you understand the ways of the past, pass and move was what you where brought up on, where was it on Sunday? as Ciggy has stated and I witnessed first hand you looked at times like a lost Man, a Rabbit in the headlights, how do I Change the Game?

1 Drop Lucas, never, ever be tempted to play him again, sell him to the Discovery Channel he'd be better Crab Fishing than trying to be a Footballer.

2 All any Supporter want this year is to get back into the Top Four and Champions League Qualification, Play your strongest eleven in every League game injury permitting, If you finally fathom out what it should be, Tip from a no-body:

Reina

Kelly Carra Agger Konchesky
Johnson Gerrard Mierless Cole
Torres Pacheco/Babbel/Kuyt/Maxi (One from four)

3 You've paid good money for players, i guess to replace some we already have..... play them!

4 If in doubt go to the Kop end of the gound, in the Museum you'll find a big book, read the damn thing, it's author's were two of the finest Footballing Brain's the game has ever known it's called the Melwood Bible insitgated by Shanks, carried on by Bob, if you don't know how to play pass and move, it'll tell you how too!

I was expecting better things from you, because you said you understood the Club, it's philosophy, it's standing in the Game, you seem to come accross better in the Media than the previous encombent,(Mainly i have to say because you're English and to the Media likeable and not a percieved threat to Whiskey nose, unlike Rafa who told the truth and they had it in for him ever since) but like Houllier, it's all very well professing you understand the Liverpool way, it's another thing delivering it!

A similar result to rafas last season, and rafa also was satisfied, and had a big smile on his face. No one else did, but rafa was happy. Hence the reason many of us were fed up of rafa. The difference being, rafa played for that draw.

what you have put there is something i have been thinking about for a long time as i'm sure have many, by that i mean play kelly and get johnson on the fecking wing imo it would be a great move and could pay off no end

as for the rest i would change cole for jova and play cole just behind torres

strenth, pace and good tech brains i'm sure we would be on to a winner? ???

i think Igor Zidane is being gravely misunderstood here. he is not asking for the manager to be sacked, nor he is not supporting the manager. he has been rather reasonable in his stance since the season begun. he is frustrated, like i am, with the performance with the team and the fact that changes were not made earlier. the team selected was wrong. Meireles should've started. he played for Portugal last week i think, so there's no issue with match fitness. Lucas and Poulson have proven that they cannot play together as they have more or less the same jobscope.

Too early to judge but he HAS to get Gerrard back in midfield, the Lucas and Poulsen partnership just isn't working.

I agree about the lack of width and pace in wide positions, Maxi I just don't think offers enough, I would rather see Babel out there, at least he has pace.

The team selection for the next few games I think is a big challenge for the manager, he has had a few games now to look at players and needs to start picking the right team.

Let's be honest I can't see anyway we are going to challenge for the league, already 7 points behind Chelsea, probably more if we lose against the Mancs.

They have this strange notion that if the new man comes in and also fails, it proves the impossibility of the job and so therefore vindicates their argument. I know yourself and benny will deny this to be the case, but I am absolutely convinced it is true.

That means you're delusional Big Mick. I'm concerned for you. Have you thought about seeing a psychiatrist? You may have paranoid schizophrenia you know. Because which LFC fan would be terrified that a new manager have success? They will be jumping with joy. I know I would.

No I'm pretty sure I'm right on this one. That said, I am open to debate on it. Perhaps you can help me out Magus. What other earthly reason can you think of why people who denied the sky was blue for years, would have hailed that result on Sunday as a tactical coup, would have slurped up a start to the season which saw us lose only once in our first eight matches (we lost two out of our first three league games last season), would suddenly round on the manager like a pack of baying hyienas because we aren't playing "flowing football"?

How can it be that when we staunchly defended a manager who refused to play either of his most recent 20 million pound purchases for week after week after week after week, and who staunchly refused to play Babel for season after season, that we round on a manager for not STARTING with a new signing from a foreign league in his very first match, Away at a team who are combative and have an excellent Home record? What would you and your cohorts have said if Mereiles HAD started and had an anonymous debut? I dread to think.

And how can it be that after we staunchly defended a manager who played two defensive midfielders at Home to Wigan and indeed for a whole season, we attack a new manager for doing so in one tricky Away match? The same manager  hasten to add that we attacked for being too attacking in the last away match?

You say I need to see a phsychiatrist  He'd have a field day with some of you lot, fecking hell you should form an orderly queue outside the door.

One defeat in eight competitive matches, right there with Man City, Spurs and Villa after a desperately difficult start, won four from four in Europe and the sound of toys hitting the floor from the prams is like rain on an iron roof. Nobodies said "sack him" though  The only reason why not is because such a statement would expose whoever said it for absolutely what they are.

People should properly look at what a new manager has done, objectively, if they want to be taken seriously. We were poor on Sunday, too defensive. It has been thus for a long long time. It would be lovely if the manager could wave a wand, but so far he hasn't managed it. That said, we got a point which was a decent result. To listen to some of you lot, you'd think we'd got beat and had no points from four matches and were out of Europe. .

You explain peoples outbursts to me magus, I'm all ears.

You keep claiming this that and the other - you keep accusing people of different things with vieled digs in every single paragraph you post . Just to clear things up for you - I am not impressed with the way we are playing at the moment and I want to see some improvement because I want to see us succeed in everything we do - I do not want Hodgson to fail - I have never wanted any Liverpool manage to fail - I am a Liverpool fan not a Rafa fan or a Hodgson fan - I want us to be as successful as we possibly can no matter who the manager is . I don't want Hodgson sacked I want him to change things and improve us and get us up the table . Stop harping back to previous season and previous manager - it's gone its history its in the past - all that matters is what happens from here on in - every single Liverpool fan wants us to succeed so stop accusing them of anything different .

I'm afraid I'm going to have to refer you to the post which was three before yours. In it, I ask for a logical explanation if indeed there is one, other than the inescapable conclusion I've had to come to.

Anyway while you, Magus and such like are mulling over that one, I'm moving on because far more interesting to me than debating such silliness with you two is how Roy sees us moving forward, what is he going to do about the undeniable fact that we havent looked like a good team for 18 months or so. I'm not sure there is any one thing which will be sufficient to nail our decline, more likely it is a collection of small adjustments which will make the sum of our parts greater than the ingredients.

Chief amongst these as far as I see it is playing Steven Gerrard in central midfield. The simple fact of the matter is that we haven't got anyone else who is in the same league as him in there (it worked Ok while Alonso was in there, but since then Gerrard up top hasn't been a success IMHO). This move IMHO is even more important than getting Lucas out of the team (and that's saying something), as I think even the Brazillian would look average alongside Gerrard, as opposed of course to how he normally looks.

Many people said that when Mereiles came on against Birmingham we looked  a better team. We did, we bossed it for the last 20 minutes and could have won it. It wasn't because the new fella came on though (although he did have touches), it was because Lucas went in the opposite direction and because Gerrard came into central midfield.

I would absolutely urge the manager to make this change in the first instance. Start from there, and build the team from that fulcrum.
