Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Thomo - you can't compare Hodgson to any of those managers you mention - they all had pedigree who came up through the club - none of them had been managers for 30 years and won no major trophies nor had been sacked from a previous top club as they were about to be relegated due to his management . Hodgson is a great manager at smaller clubs with lower expectations and has done well with them - IMO he is not good enough for a club with high ambitions or high expectations . So far everything people said Hodgson would deliver to the club has been a false dawn .

Thats understandable. They have been betrayed and are upset because not only have they lost their hero theyve got an imposter and a dud in his place.
Its plain to see how much pain theyre in, but the irony is, if they changed their attitude the healing would come sooner and happy days would be here again

I'm not sure you're right mate, most of the critics are the anti Rafa bunch, seems they cant get out of the hyper-critical mode.....

Smart answer for a 3 year old...

I think the clue might be in the team setup and "tactics" (or lack thereof).

It's really quite simple that without control of the ball, you rarely win football matches. If that's good enough for you, maybe I'll have one of your rusks - they're obviously packed with something other than vitamins.

The point I was making is that all those managers had time and no previous success. Rafa won nothing in 07, 08, 09 and was seriously damaging the club. Hodgson has experience and trophies and with time, hopefully, will turn things round. If he doesnt he will be sacked and rightly so.

So the teams set up to lose control of the ball? The tactics are to give the opposition the ball so they can score against us?
This Hodgson fellas worse than I thought!

All those managers won something very early on Thomo - The Liverpool guys won the title early on - same with wenger , taggert was close to getting sacked until he won FA Cup , and they were also new to the Prem yet were still successful early on  - i do hope Hodgson proves me wrong as it would mean we would be successful and thats what i want but i dont believe he will be and his track record points to that im afraid .

Now that Roy will have Joe Cole back, I just hope he can do something more creative and make us proud. Man for man in the starting 11 we are not that bad. But don't know what happened as the players might have lost confidence. Hope once we start winning games on a consistent basis, our player can play up to their potential. I strongly believed we have the players to get into 4th. Let's just hope we do until otherwise. Hope everyone will give it a rest. I was just as pi.ssed some of you guys but after a day now, we must give the team time. At least we have Reina right!

What an absolutely bizarre situation. We've played 8 matches, and we've lost one which just happened to be Away to Man City who spent 100 million quid in the Summer. We've won four out of four European ties, including Home and Away games against a Turkish team who are notoriously tricky. We've won a very winnable game at Home in the league, drawn with Arsenal despite having ten men, and drawn Away at Birmingham who are unbeaten at Home for a year.

But we aren't playing well, what a shame. People are launching their toys out of the pram with a vengeance, spitting their dummies as far as they can project them, and all because we aren't playing well. We've got a tricky game at Man Utd at the weekend. What next, sack the manager if we don't win 3-0

Peoples true colours are well and truly shining through if I can quote Cindy Lauper for a second (it's not every day you can do that), and it's a real shame. I never thought I'd see the day when Liverpool supporters would round on a manager after four league matches, regardless of what they thought about his predecessor (and PLEASE don't give me the "but it's nothing to do with Rafa" line, it's frankly embarrassing to read) I'm just saddened to read it.

I always thought our fan base was different. How wrong I was :( .

Mick, its not worth getting involved in this one mate, these lads are determined to vent their fury on both sides and slug it out for another 23 days.

Best for everyone to go on holiday for a month.
