I hope he brings in a replacement for Aquilani. I've liked what Roy has done so far, but we need a back up otherwise without Gerrard we are a bit screwed in the creative midfield department.

Would really like to see Roy closing 3 positions which are still very problematic for us:

LB ,Striker ,Playmaker.

Agger should go back to his natural position ,Skertel or Carra should come from the bench, it i was me both would be benched ,the Greek is a better defensive and attacking player (Set shots).

Striker ,We only have 2 natural strikers ,one world class ,need more options.

Playmaker - we have none..We have some combo players who can move the ball but not a natural playmaker.

if he let Auilani go on loan it means he wasnt in the first 25, and looking at our first 25 we have to assume that Roy has a few mroe players to get before the deadline is over

Hope so daws mate as we got three areas that need filling badly - need cover for both Torres and gerrard and we need a left back . Asap . If we don't get them we are pretty thin squad wise and going to have to hope both gerrard and Torres get through the season without any injuries .

Everything to date has been positive so any proper LFC fan on here doubting Roy needs there head read. If he manages to keep a hold of Mascherano (either by luck, time running out in the window or by him convincing Mascha) then the guy has over achieved already IMO.

I think we have an interesting last few days in the transfer window ahead and I trust that Roy will do a good job in bringing in some defensive cover (LB) and another striker.

Think back 2 months to (when Torres, Gerrard, Macherano etc were all going and it was all doom and gloom) and then take a look at what we have now and then you will realise that this man has done a great job to date

you are right that Roy has done a relatively good job so far...

but your priority tasks are all wrong and seems like you just made it up

For example, we don't need experience, we have enough experience in Gerrard, Carra, Torres, Kuyt, Reina, etc. And also zonal marking was never a problem... if you don't believe, look at the stats. This should be Roy's tasks:

Roy's #1 task = keep Gerrard and Torres - DONE
Roy's #2 task = Bring in a much needed quality striker - NOT DONE
Roy's #3 task = Bring in a quality leftback so that we don't have to play Agger at LB - NOT DONE
Roy's #4 task = recreate team spirit - need to access over a full season, not after one game - NOT DONE YET
Roy's #5 task = persuade a world class player like Mascherano to stay - NOT DONE based on the fact that he will still go if a right offer comes. This is an almost impossible job I admit but if he can pull it off my impression of him will go alot of notches higher...
Roy's #6 task = bring in a creative player to improve our play - DONE but the jury is still out on Cole
Roy's #7 task and the most important = play an expansive fluid game with good team work - NOT DONE YET

so there you go... not all's rosy yet...

Had to stop there, didn't he re-sign Aurelio?

Mash has made it clear he wants to leave the country, and not the club, and it is not within Roy's capabilities to change the English weather or whatever other issues Mash has with UK. task #5 is irrelevant and not realistic.

so there you go... not all's rosy yet.

Lets not forgot what Roy's up against:

He has less money to spend to build his own squad than our previous manager did.
Due to the World Cup pre-season wasn't the ideal time to get his new players up to speed.
His opening two fixtures on top of that are a baptism of fire.
He has to also try and pick up the morale from the disappointments of last season.

Yet,

He's genuinely been a breath of fresh air in the media, he's under no illusions either (many said he'd merely be a 'yes man'). He's handled transfer dealings very well in this short amount of time...

He's signed the type of 'creative' player (J.Cole) that the previous manager would never have considered, yet we're still bemoaning a lack of creativity ?

He's signed an international midfielder who will add something Lucas lacks.

He's retained the services of Torres and Gerrard and indirectly Kuyt and Mascha when predictions bythe doomers were thick and fast they'd be a mass exodus of players leaving after Rafa's sacking.

So while we know everything isn't rosy, it's still early days the signs IMO are promising considering last season and yet not everything is doom and gloom as much as some of the Nanny's on here would have you believe.

But i thought the previous manager (he  who shall not be named) spent and wasted shedloads bam . Net spend means nowt according to you and varous others . So up to now what has Roy spent ? Now not forgetting that wages come under the tranfers budget according to Purslow . So young Mr COLE cost us how much ,aswell as the other signings.

Your gonna go round in circles if you wanna play this game sunshine.

According to you and many others (who supported the manager who shall not be named) Net spend did count. So for the 20M wasted on Keane and the other 20 on Aqua, 8M on the Dross, 11m on Babel, Kromkamp, Josemi, Morientes, Bellamy, Crouch, Momo, Degen (wages as you stated) Voronin (wages as you stated)

He did well in recouping that money from the sales of Kromkamp, Josemi, Morientes, Bellamy, Crouch, Momo, Degen and Voronin etc.
