As for Keane making a lot of assists.......... Keane made 10 assists in the last 3 seasons, just over 3 per season, Rooney made 30 in the last three seasons or 10 per season by comparison.

In 200 odd appearances for for Spurs Saint he scored 100 odd goals.

Obviously dont know the exact amount 

Thats not a bad ratio in my book, look at the V-man and Kuyt for examples of bad ratios.

The one recent transfer which would make him look dear is Nicolas Anelka going to Chelsea for 15 million. Were they to buy him now as opposed to six months ago, they'd need to be in the twenties I should have thought based on what's gone on since.

  He was decent for Chelsea - nothing spectacular. He was exceptionally sh!t in the Euro's and is 29 years old. Note to thought police - this doesn't mean I'm saying he's a sh!t player.

Robbie Keane, for me, is the missing piece of the jigsaw for us to CHALLENGE for the league. We have got ourselves a intelligent, proven, hardworking player in his peak who scores goals. What more can we ask for? Hes light years ahead of Kuyt and Voronin. They dont even come close to his ability. Someone quote me now that he will score more goals than them 2 put together this year, bearing in mind there still here. Also hes a lifelong fan, genuinely, so you can bet your bottom dollar he will fight tooth and nail for this club. I for one hope he does well.

I hope so but at both Full back positions I feel we are behind the other teams.

I think playing 2 defensive midfielders is overdoing it too, especially at home.

But Rafa would have kittens over that formation I'm afraid.

would like to see babal given a try on the right as then he could use his stronger foot to push down the right flank and whip some balls in on that stronger foot ( not always cutting back in like he did on the left ) the left side is a little more of a puzzle but if we got barry or silva then that would solve that problem imo

with gerrard sitting just behind the stricker pairing waiting for any loose balls and also making his runs i think that would give ANY team a run for there money

Really liking this signing, I've always liked Keane for his work ethic AND ability (yes mr Kuyt, you can have both   )

In fact i'd go as far as saying this is going to be the best Strike partnership since Kenny and Rush

Im wondering what will be Rafa's preferred formation now that we've got Keane.

I think the 4-2-3-1 worked really well last year, so not sure I want us to go 4-4-2.

Where does anyone reckon he is best deployed in the 4-2-3-1?

He could certainly do a job in Gerrard's role behind Torres, I'd prefer him there than
in Kuyt's position. But he wouldn't be as effective as Gerrard I don't think.

Assuming we still play a fair bit of 4-2-3-1 next season (and i hope we do) I'd imagine his best position will be behind Torres with Stevie taking Kuyt's slot on the right (my preference) or dropping back into mid-field at the expense of Xabi or Mash. It also wouldn't  surprise me to see him play as the lone front-man in the same system should (perish the thought) Torres get injured or rested/rotated. Of course he doesn't bring the same skill-set as Torres but he has the mobility, touch and game intelligence to play the role if needed.

I think he'll be an excellent foil for Torres, he's a classic partnership player for my mind, very clever and adaptable. Torres is an absolute monster for opposing defences to mark, he pulls players all over the show but our problem has been (Gerrard aside) there is no-one to take advantage of the soft spots created by our number 9. Hopefully Keane can be that player.

Keane behind Torres and Gerrard in Kuyt's position could be a tremendous combination.
Would Gerrard be happy playing that role? Hard to say. But, it IS the position (more or less) that Ronaldo plays
so it could be sold to him on that basis.

I guess that's the only prblem with Stevie isn't it, you shouldn't really have to worry about whether he WANTS to play there should you? I'd be quite happy to see Gerrard playing a mixture of centre-mid, behind Torres in the 4-2-3-1 and also out out on the right. He's a very difficult player to prepare for when the opposition KNOW where he's going to play let alone when they don't!

I still reckon reckon we would both have gone for Arshavin ahead of Keane though? I'm pretty sure we started singing his praises at exactly the same time! Still, nevermind, I think Keane will do well for us.

Arshavin seems a good little player in the russian league and waffa cup against people like the BS - had a couple of decent games in euros then did nothing in the big game -now they are on about 25 mil for the guy ? very over priced for someone who in my opinion is still unproven - the media etc built the guy up onto a platform .

I guess we'll find out soon mate as it looks like he might be Tottenham bound. There's no doubt most of the big clubs have been put off by the asking price. I reckon he'll be a star.

not sure myself - think he will be a flat track bully - deny him the ball like spain did to russia and he doesnt seem that much - if he goes to spurs at this time in his career when he should be looking at a CL club if he wants to really prove himself he will be another maybe player .
