Owen hargreaves - Good enough for liverpool?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

England midfielder Owen Hargreaves has recently made it known that he would like to leave the Bundesliga for england. The club he wants to sign for is liverpool. Would he be a good partner for Stevie G in midfield?
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

No way, we don't need another defensive midfielder, we got Steve Gerrard, so we NEED creative midfielder with flair, technique and good feet too, so Joe Cole is the TYPE of  player that we need.

Hargreaves has to be respected considering he played a prominent role when Bayern won the champions league.  However, he has never impressed me when playing for England, doesn't score enough goals and is not the creative midfielder we badly need.

Id prefer Lampard to Cole but neither is going to happen. I wonder who Benitez will bring with him???

Joe Cole is good but isn't a patch on McManaman at his peak.  If we sign a creative player the standard Macca and Barnes set must be the pre-requisite.

I must admitt, Owen Hargreaves has never impressed me, infact he comes across as slow and unsure of himself, that's the impression he's givin me in every England match ive watched him in. He does look more at home playing for Bayern.

Just my opinion.

Hargreaves? Maybe. Cole? Never. Why sign players who are not good enough for their teams? Cole struggles in Chelsea and was relegated with West Ham. He is mediocre at best. We need players with pace, strenght and technique. Cole has neither. Some say he is technically gifted. This surprises me. I see Ronaldihno, Ronaldo, Pires, Henry, Zidane and the likes as technically gifted not Cole. He has basic ball playing skills. But he lacks pace, strenght and "killer instinct". He is no winner in my books. We need winners. Guys who goes that extra mile. We do not need primadonnas and former relegation strugglers.

Cole has pace, trickery, vision, acceleration, attacking intend, flair and superb technique. The fact he's never played in a good side on a regular basis is the only thing he's lacking.

He's got more ability in his little toe than Lampard. However he doesn't suit Chelsea's system. For us however it would be a different story.

As for when he was relegated with West Ham, go to a west ham forum and ask who there only player was when they went down. He carried the team on numurous occassions and i'll never forget the way he gave Vieira the run around for 90 minutes at upton park. it was a joy to watch.

Banana you come out with some of the biggest heaps of ****** ever.

Cole seems like a player who will do a fancy flick, turn, trick whatever but doesn't do anything that really hurts the opposition.

Maybe he gave Viera the run around one day, so what? I remember Mark Walters being outstanding against Auxerre one day, is he a great player?

I think Cole needs to go to a lesser club, maybe Spurs or somebody and play every week and then we'll see if he is good enough to move to a big club.

He hasn't lived up to the hype that was there before he ever kicked a ball as a pro.

Cole can be a cracking player. He was superb for the Hammers the season they went down. Don't forget he was made captain that season. Going to Chelsea was a big mistake for the lad. He needs to play week in week out to develop his full potential, he needs to play in the middle of the park or behind the front 2 and he needs a coach who beleives in him.

The media love to lay into Cole coz we have all been hearing how great he was gonna be since he was 14 years old. Ok, he's never gonna be the white Pele but i still think he can be a great player.

Cole can hurt the opposition. He shown that for west ham and even for chelsea where he's played 2 times in central midfield. If he came to our club he'd be first choice and him and Gerrard would compliment each other perfectly.

He's a very clever player. With other players around him with great quality such as Gerrard, Kewell and Owen he'd live upto that early hype. Joe Cole has top class ability. He's not potential anymore, his ability is there for all to see. Its just a case of consistency, confidence and getting a run in his natural position.

He will show what he's got one day. I just hope thats for us in the heart of our midfield where he belongs.

everyone who takes on joe cole knows what they are getting. as a youngster he was compared to gazza when he first burst onto the scene and it is easy to see why. the guy has magic in his feet but can sometimes overelaborate. however that will improve with age. for me, in a good side, he could be a star man who scores 8-10 goals and makes endless others.
