i second that!

I third that.

Let's buy
1) a Centre Back
2) a Right-Sided Midfielder/Winger
3) and maybe a striker.

Anything else would just be greedy.

There is no need for him now, although i disagree with most of the statements about him.
I think he is a very steady squad player that could play a number of positions.
To say his best years are behind him is bizarre, i think he is about 23-24.
But agreed we have so many options in midfield now, it would be a pointless signing and there are other areas that are far more urgent in signing players.

I just can not seem to put my finger on why I dont think that Hargreraves is what we are looking for, but I must admit it niggles.

He is an England International, and we are mooted to be close to paying £8m for another such player, and which is the better of the two ?

An England International for around £2m, you would not be able to get one for less than £6m for any others, and although he does not set the world on fire, he plays well enough when selected, and back to the first point, he is English and in all the squads, surely this is no co-incedence ?

If he was just £2m, I would take him, if only cus on a longer (possibly 4 year contract) here, having played a few games in England, he would surely command double that in a sale to Boro, Villa, Birmingham or the like.........

Now is he Over rated? Under rated? is he worth a pop?

On the plus side he wouldn't cost much, can play central or right sided which is good for our needs right now and he's an international. He works hard and I'd prefer him to be in for when Gerrard is "Rested" than I would Sissoko. He wouldn't really be a 1st eleven starter but a very good squad player with experience and enough quality to play for the German Champions and England, for a cheap fee. He could then provide back-up for Figo (if he ever comes)

What do you think?

He's a pile of KAKA, if you ask me.

He and this Ballack, are the most overrated players in the History of the sport.

It would be a waste of money as he wont fit into the team in anyway.

Agreee with those positions as those are where were lacking but i think
4) right back aswell
not to convinced with josemi and we need quality cover for Finnan, and not sure if Raven is ready yet

Is that post a wind up ?
Ballack has to be one of the best midfielders in the world.
His goalscoring record for a midfielder is second to none and he can dominate games at the highest level.
Lets hope he doesnt end up at the scum.

Ballack overrated?? You undoubtedly have never seen this boy play!! 2001 he and zidane were clearly the best players in the world as he hepled Leverkusen to the final of the European Cup and the German National league. Today he's Bayern Munich's deputy Captain after Olivier Kahn- unless you believe Bayern in general are :censored:? ???

As for Owen Hargreaves to be honest it's a little late now we have Sissoko but i'm actually in favour of his talents i think he is a solid player who could, given the oppertunity, play well for us and again hes a little versatile which Rafa likes but with Alonso, Gerrard and co it simply wouldnt benefit either party. Shame cos i really rate him!!

i agree that having signed sissoko, we arent really in the market for the type of player that Hargreaves is.

However, i do rate him and if he was available on a free nxt summer, having run up his contract then we should definately sign him up. hamann wont last much past nxt season and hargreaves is very versatile - hes even played in defence when required. hes all about heart and effort as well, though never gonna set anfield alight he would be a good addition no doubt.

He wants to play for a top 4 club, but none of the top 4 clubs want him, he would play for a club like birmingham or boro and do nothing and move somewhere else, better off staying in Germany.
