Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Id be the first in for him if i was the manager.  Hes top pquality and hes a lion at heart, I think, well he is in the same way as Lennox Lewis shammone mother fuker.

No on a serious note I reallly do think he would be the ideal midfield player to play along side SG.  An one things for sure if we was to sign him id let him to take all the dead balls.  Have ya seen him take free kivks mate ****** me hes good yano.  He takes the free kicks at MUNICH. lol

Anyway am off to give me money to the ****** bookies!!!!!!!

Super Owen Hargreaves

Come on the PAlace

I read an article on the Teletext today, where Hargreaves expressed an intrest in coming to the Prem.

He also said he would "fit in well at Liverpool......

....Arsenal....

....and Man United...."

Nothing like keeping the old options open.

What would he give us we don't already have in Gerrard who is twice the player?

The answer is nothing.

We need someone who compliments Gerrard with an attacking game... ala Joe Cole.

We don't need two defensive midfielders.

Take your point But he is very versatile has played left and right for England, and he may be "defensive" so what ? I wouldn't mind seeing Stevie given the freedom to steam forward.  :)

Owen Hargreaves would be a great acquisition for this club, can play wide right too. A great engine, him and gerrard would compliment each other, one go forwards and then the other. Joe Cole has never been and never will be a top class footballer, he gives the ball away far too cheaply, like Murphy. We cant make no more mistakes now. We'll have money to spend and a good amount too. Stars need to be bought, Aimar, Valeron, Van der vaart, Baraja etc . Not all of them of course but this is the quality we have to be aiming for

I'd take Joe Cole over Hargreaves personally . Coles got bags more skill and creativity . Dont get me wrong , he is a quality player but another industrious Midfielder with a  big engine coming to Liverpool ? ???

Hargreaves would be a much safer bet than Joe Cole. I also disagree that Hargreaves and Gerrard would br too defensive, in fact Gerrard is one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe if not the world and Hargreaves is creative as well.

Both have had to play more defensive rolews than they would like to meet the demands of their clubs.

I hope to never see the hit and miss Joe Cole in a Liverpool shirt.

If we where to buy Joe Cole that would mean that SG would have to play the Hamann role.  He's far more effective when playing with Hamann than when hes been playing with Danny Murphy this is because he get's a license to make forward runs.

Dont any off you think we need a player who is an expert a free kicks, I do personnaly.  If there is one thing SG is bad at its free kicks, every free kick we get I know its going over or its an easy save for the keeper.  Dont get me wrong SG corners or spot on but free kicks we need someone else.   An I have seen Owen Hargreaves take some wonderfull free kicks for Bayern.  Id say hes not far behind Beckham on the free kicks.  Havent any off you seen his free kicks chaps?

If not Owen Hargreaves we need someone who is world class at taking free kicks.  Someone like Gary Mc. Hes got no hair and we dont care Gary Gary mac. :D

Agree with you re: freekick specialist. Can't remember if we scored more than a couple directly from freekick this season. Compared the return to that of Arsenal or Chelsea.

Obviously we are building the team around StevieG, and most agreed that SG is at his best when he get the licence to move forward. I see neither Cole nor Hargraves playing the holding role (can't tackle!!!). Hamann still have a couple of good season left in him, I say stick with him at the moment and fill the void which is right wing/midfield...Malbranque?

Of course if Benitez were to be appointed and bring along Aimar, we could opt for a more attacking formation.  :)

I see Hamann as a god pawn for Hargreaves.  Hamanns no spring chicken and as for Hargreaves not been able to tackle thats like saying M Owen cant score goals mate.

I don't think tackling is one of Hargraves' strong point. He might bring something else to the table but I don't rate him highly enough. As for Owen goal scoring record...are you testifying that Hargraves is that good a tackler? Maybe I am missing something here?

Hargreaves is a more all round players than people are giving him credit for. You don't play for four years in the Bayern Munich team without being a very good player.
