Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Not like me to be positive, but perhaps we should give the man a chance. OK we're not impressed at the signing, but he hasn't had a chance to fail or succeed yet.

That's just crazy talk, if he hasn't netted at least 3 in hist first 5 starts he is a flop.

But to be honest when has any player not been backed by the fans? He will have his chance.

Wernt Juve and a few other top teams after him? After all the dud freebies we have had we should be due a decent one. Fingers crossed.

15:00 Sunday KO v Ghana :)

Have to agree mate, not particularly bothered whether the lad comes or not. He has a bit of a Voronin feel to me. The Jovanator!!!

Just massively written off before he's pulled on a red shirt! If that's "been backed" by our fans, I'm glad I don't need your (plural) backing!

He will be Andrei Voronin II in terms of backing ie will have to do more than most to avoid slating and "get rid"

The lad has nothing to lose really.
We are all not expecting much.

Having said that i am sure that he will be a better option than Ngog, and that's before i have ever seen him play  :D

It's rather sad "we are all not expecting much" which leans more towards him having little to gain more than nothing to lose. He will have to perform like someone who cost £5m even to break even in terms of credit. N'Gog cost only £1.5m, does ok, yet he is getting stick in the same post!

Free Fowler : 13 goals in 39 apps (147 mins/goal)
£1.5m N'Gog : 11 goals in 56 apps (224 mins/goal)
£10m Kuyt : 51 goals in 200 apps (309 mins/goal)
£20.3m Keane : 7 goals in 28 apps (257 mins/goal)
£10.5m Babel : 20 goals in 129 apps (297 mins/goal)
£6m Bellamy : 9 goals in 42 apps (299 mins/goal)
Free Voronin : 6 goals in 40 apps (329 mins/goal)

A mix of freebies, cheapies and expensive floppies. N'Gog's return isn't that bad considering that only in NINE of his 56 apps (about 1 in 6) did he play 90+ minutes. Weren't some talking of getting Bellamy back!?!?!? Others go on about Keane as if he was hard done by, not a flop that wasn't worth persistence. Voronin's looks really bad, 12 apps in 09/10 and 386 mins without a goal make it a lot worse than it was in his first season - 6 goals in 28 apps (264 mins/goal) which is roughly what Keane delivered but at £20.3m more (for the extra ONE goal)

No doubt he'll be one of the first to be talked out of the exit door in January/the following summer, before the season has reached November of course :D
