hes sh!t and should leave, far too risky putting him anywhere near the pitch therefore he shouldnt be on it

The signing of Barry is nailed on imo.

Lucas did well enough by his own standards. But against a team with world class talent like Chelsea last night, we need a better player in central midfield. Mascherano could've done the job, but in his absence I think we still need another player. Unless you play with 2 up front and shift Gerrard into central midfield, which Rafa is unlikely to do because it would break up the Gerrard-Torres partnership.

Barry can also replace Reira on the left if he plays as :censored: as yesterday. Couldn't beat Ivanovic once in whole game.

Rafa should go out and get another experienced CM (Sell Lucas and add a few million to get Barry) But i think it's time to find a new scapegoat :D .

Why not play Spearing , seriously now he can not be any worse than Lucas and I actually think he would be a hell of a lot better. Look at Manure they take a gamble with a 17 year old and it pays off big time, maybe just maybe it would work for us as well, and if it doesn't, well he can always be subbed can't he but at least give the kid a chance?

playing a kid up front when he had no other options is different to put an inexpirenced kid into the centre of midfield during a cl quarter final against 3 world class cms , took big a risk for any club to take .

it would have been a massive risk, and could have destroyed the lads confidence in the process. OK, Lucas isn't good enough, but it's unfair to highlight him for yesterdays performance.

Aurelio was dire and so were a few others.

However, Dossena, Lucas and Babel should all be sold in the summer.

I agree, those are the three I would get rid of.

Barry is a much more versatile player and offers a hell of a lot more than Lucas so i can see no reason why Rafa shouldnt sell him.

For left back we have Aurelio and Insua, both better than Dossena.

Babel is just constantly underperforming and i dont think he will ever show is true potential, he lacks the intelligence.

I think Rafa did little wrong against Chelsea, some might say he should have started with Benayoun instead of Lucas but he still isnt at 100% fitness and would have been risky to play him for 90 mins.

Spearing is a good player but bringing the lad on against a midfield with the likes of Lampard, Essien, Ballack.. not really a good idea. He did well against the Real Madrid midfield only because they were shocking and getting hammered.

If we can get Barry and ease Spearing into the midfield role more delicately, then this would really help his development. Although I think Lucas is really shyte but I also feel sorry for him as he was put into a very tough situation (because of injuries of the others). Again, it is not because he is a Brazilian who doesn't play like a Brazilian. It is because his physique and style of play really doesn't suit a top club like us. He got only limited skill and he can't really play against top players and perform consistently. Either we get a Barry or Hamann (not himself of course) type player. We were again exposed on the depth of the team yesterday.

Lucas was horrific yesterday did anyone see those two open shots he completely missed? One went 50 feet in the air and I think the other one he didn't even get contact on the ball after seeing those two I lost all faith I had in the lad.

Well you are certianly more patient than me then, the way I look at it a player needs to earn my support and belief and Lucas never has. Babel has occassionally but I'm starting to loose faith in him as well not becuase of skill but effort. With Lucas it's a lack of skill and that is more worrying, I just can't see what Rafa sees in him and why he doesn't give plaayers liek Spearing more of a chance, maybe not against Chelsea but in general.

exactly cant believe people think spending all that money on a central midfield player just because he can play in a few positions is a good idea when we clearly have one of the best midfields in the world

a left and right winger, a rightback, a centreback and a forward would all be a better option then a midfielder
