I don't know you,

but afther this words

“The criticism he receives does get to me,” he said in the Daily Star Sunday.

“I think people forget he’s 22 years old. He’s not 27 or 28.

“I remember what I was like at that age and I look at where I am now.

“I know that I’m a one-million-percent better player now. I got better with experience.

“I made mistakes and learned and it has helped me become the player I am"

I love the captain even more. Well said Stevie!

its shocking when it takes one of own players to have to tell fans to get off his back. but thats the mentality of some of the fans you get going the match these days , Hopefully they will leave him alone now.

Listen to the captain

We'd have to sell Lucas, Babel, Dossena and probably one or two more to buy a top class right winger. And it would leave gaping holes in our squad. Probably why Rafa has gone for a few bosmans and kids, to plug the gaps but the problem is a lot of them aren't likely to be instant hits so we spend all our time dreaming talking about selling these players and signing "quality".

Point being our squad isn't very strong, people talk about selling the rubbish and buying a quality player or two - how is that going to solve our real problem of squad depth?

Well let me ask you something then... how much money do YOU think we'll have available for us in the summer without having to sell any of our players ? i'd say around 20-30 mill (going by what we'v been spending in past seasons..

players who can be used as squad players who in my mind are good enough:

cavalieri
insua
Agger
Hyypia
Arbeloa
Babel
Benayoun
Kuyt
NEW BACKUP FORWARD
add a couple of youngsters and maybe a bosman (CM?) to that list and u have plenty of depth in the squad imo

that would leave us needing:

new rightback
new righ winger
backup forward

we'd get money from:

Dossena
Lucas
Voronin
keane deal ??
Others (n'gog?, Elzhar?...wouldnt mind)

that would leave us with around 40-50mill depending on how you look at things... surely enough to bring in a quality right winger, a good right back and a backup forward?

Owen, Joaquin, A.lopez ?
Gudjohnsen, Maxi, Rafinha ?
etc etc

point is.. as long as we keep the good players put and we add quality to that then we should have a squad and starting 11 that are good enough to compete over the course of a season... i dont think Dossena and Lucas are good enough, i dont think N'gog is anywhere near ready... i think that the likes of Kuyt, Babel, Benayoun, Arbeloa are good enough to be backup but not starting 11 material... i think we'v always had problems in the transfer market ... both buying and selling... and hopefully if Rafa is still around for next season he'll get it right this time around...for a change...

Suggest you play too much footy manager. I'm not going to get into guessing games of how much we'll have, who we'll sell, who we'll buy etc

Fact remains there is every chance Rafa would sell Lucas, Dossena etc and buy another Lucas, Dossena etc (potted version so I don't waste too much time in replying) Our problem is squad strength in depth, we lose any of the central midfield trio and next in is Lucas, lose Riera and next in is Babel, lose Torres and it's down to Kuyt, N'Gog or Babel, lose Arbeloa and with no Degen it's Carra, Skrtel or some other makeshift line-up. Playing the INs and OUTs (of Meg's Rs) game is so pointless, a traditional time-killer that proves nothing and achieves the same.

point is.. if you're selling off ordinary or poor players then how do you expect to balance the books if buying supposedly better ones? Cute magic trick, sell a Voronin and get a Torres - doesn't work. Even if your kitty has £30m, you're still selling low value players and hoping to replace them with good ones. You still need to apply a basic principle of replacing every player you sell with something, how many players did we sell in the summer to pay for Keane? Three? Four?

Same for any club, club's don't have strict membership rules so anyone can claim to be a Liverpool fan just as much as any other fan of their choice. You try and buy a ticket they don't check your credentials, other than to make sure your credit card isn't nicked.

The true fact of life is a lot of people are morons, and people can support whoever they choose to..................

Yeah but this club has never been known for booing it's own players. There has always been respect shown for any player who put's on the red shirt.

Agreed, it makes me cringe when i hear fans booing their own players and team.
Me mate was in the Kop against man city i think it was when Lucas was sub and came on, this irish woman standing in front started booing, me mate went mad, telling her in no uncertain terms to pack it in.

Disgraceful it was  :no  and i mean her booing not me mate for roaring at a bird.

It's not just his mistake, it's his attitude as well
when he makes a mistake he's got the biggest grin on his face as if it did not matter.

Lucas is a good player and can be better but if he's going to make dumb mistakes consistently when given a chance I don't have a problem with Spearing getting some games, he played well enough against Madrid to earn more time later in the season.  That said I don't think the remaining games are the type of games I want to risk with Spearing being in midfield so tough :censored: for him and people that want to see him out there.  Lucas has proved he can play well and if he didn't give away that FK and penalty that ended up as goals people would have an entirely different view on him.
