Second half I thought he gradually became a more peripheral figure as we pressed for the all important goal. Overall I would say he played about a 6 or 7 over the whole game.
I think to make an impact he will have to show he has a little more to his game than hard work and neat passing though. He has shown he does have more to his game but only in flashes, he now needs to step up his game and start showing these flashes but on a regular basis rather than in brief glimpses.
I think at the moment he looks a decent squad player, I hope he can show he is a little more than that as the season progresses.
I think people also have to remember the calibre of player he is trying to replace, Masch, Gerrard and Alonso. I think most players would suffer in any comparison to those three!

GYBS, I don't know what you see in Lucas becuase I see nothing from him. I had actually forgotten that he cost us £11 million, add that to the £7million for Dossena and you can start to understand why we are in the sh1t financially.
i thought the only player who got stuck in especially inthe first half was Babel, maybe we appreciate different things, I like someone who creates a goal threat whereas you like a plank of wood

oops, I'll blame that one on BigMick, but it's still far too much

This is not meant as having a dig at Lucas but let's face it for a Brazilian midfielder the fella has yet to produce a flash of magic you would normally expect from a player with his pedigree and heritage and despite Alonso's below par season I fail to see why some think it wouldn't be a major loss if Alonso should go and so little is said about Lucas' less than newsworthy performances given that after Gerrard and Mascherano the third place midfield spot falls to either Alonso or Lucas.
Lucas is neat , he's tidy , erm ....... I'm hard pressed to say anything else apart from he's also very lightweight , gets brushed off the ball and decked by any opposing player that puts in a serious challenge and the majority of his own tackles seem to result in a free kick for the opposition. Offers little in terms of goal threat or creativity.
As far as I'm concerned Lucas' performances for us have so far been distinctly average, don't see that the lad has any real future with us, apart from being a handy fill in when Mascher is unavailable, or am I missing something ?

Seven months since I posed the question and I think I can safely say

I'm not missing anything, apart from the fact the he's maybe not even as neat and tidy as I once gave him credit for.
Waste of a shirt number.
